Well, not literally! lol I was working on something completely unrelated, and my mind went wandering off into politics (as it sometimes does), and I thought wouldn't it be fun to start up a discussion forum for politics - but not just politics (which is mainly spin these days it seems!), the policy itself. I'm a Tory supporter from the UK, so I was thinking about UK politics in particular, although it doesn't have to be strictly UK stuff. I thought something like maketorypolicy.com might be available, but thought I'd check out makepolicy.com just in case - and to my surprise it was available too, so I snapped it up for future use. Would anyone be interested in partnering up to create a discussion forum focused on policy driven issues? Of course there would be a section for scandal and other political matters (its no fun otherwise!) but policy is supposed to be the heart of governing...or so I heard. I'm looking for someone(s) with an interest in politics, and of course is comfortable with webmastering. Being from the UK is a bonus, but not necessary. Considering the nature of this particular forum, it shouldn't be too hard to meet those "criteria"! It's just a enquiry, if no one is interested I'll probably shelve the domain for a later date. Just a fun little side project that wouldn't be too time consuming, with next to no costs involved.
Ooooh - what an interesting idea. Bit ambitious though... have you considered just how much Moderator effort would be involved in forcing people to post 'sensibly/constructively' in the 'policy' area's ? (as opposed to the 'scandal' area's ? ). Notwithstanding... I could see this idea taking off. Meow Purr.
Not until you mentioned it. First idea that springs to mind would be to make the "policy" area a premium area (ie. a few bucks a year to post there, but free to view). Or maybe something as simple as a minimum post count, coupled with a manual review of the user when they've reached that count. I'm open to ideas...
If you give the MODS "revenue sharing" from the forum, I'm sure you could persuade others to do your enforcement...
As good a way as any as I can think of. I haven't given it a lot of thought yet to be honest, just sounding out the idea first.
