A friend of mine is trying to get me started exporting local agriculture, it sounds promising especially with rice.. He makes anywhere from $3-10 per metric ton, and sometimes gets orders up to 30k MT and lower. Do the math and thats a really nice commission. Anyone have any experience exporting?
Import / Export is a good business to be in - it's cut-throat and hard work but the middleman can make a lot of money. I think networking is the key - it's not what you know but who you know... I'd say give it a go and see how you get on - if it doesn't work for you at least you can say you've tried Good luck - blog what you're doing so that we can learn about it!
Yes its definitely a matter of who you know, my friend got me in contact with a guy whos been in the business for 15 years and I'm now working with him.. the only thing is I have to split my earnings with him.. But its still well worth the money that can be made.
