I am looking to get into thie field, I don't really know much yet but I have been doing a lot of research on certifications and everything and I am looking for some advice. I would like to work as a Network/System Admin, or do IT type work in local businesses. I am currently going to community college part time, I have been working on my general classes, and I want to start taking some computer classes. I am not sure what to major in, if I should go the CIS route or not?
I am from IT field. If you are looking for Network Administration job then I suggest that you go for MCSE and CCNA certification. These will help you a lot.
Graduation Degree is a must. It will help you in your career. First get graduated then do courses. You can do the same in parallel also.
Good advice from abinowbhat. You need a degree first and some good networking courses later. It's great professional field to be!
experience beats all. when it comes time to actually do the job, you better know what you are doing. you can get all the certifications you want, but know that companies know all about "paper mcse's" studying brain dumps sites, and practice test sites to pass your certs will only hurt you later on
While some companies know all about "paper mcse's", there are plenty that don't. I have seen time and again companies that just want to see as many certifications as possible on the resume. Oh and I agree with you on brain dumps. Stay away from those. Nothing wrong with practice tests though.
