Hi, Is there anyone from the UK in the Ebay partner network? Id love to ask you a question about the tax question if there is anyone out there? I have my site hosted on a U.S. server, but it makes you state that you have no equipment or anything in the U.S. including owning a hosting service in the U.S.? anyone had to go through this? I'd hate to get my account banned on a technicality.
I was a UK EPN Publisher I wouldn't do business with EPN cause they'll basically ask you where your traffic is coming from right down to each keyword. If you don't wanna tell them hard luck cause you can kiss good bye to your account they trust no one and they'll expose as much of you as possible!
Yeah ive heard they are pretty strict, but if you have nothing to hide then there is no problem i guess (until the boot you out hehe) I didnt lie on my application, the site i registered is my own and totally legit so i just thought id give it a chance. Can i ask you, the site you used... was it hosted in the U.S.? And if so, did you just sign the bit that says no U.S. tax implications?? I'd really appreciate it
As far as I know, having US hosting does NOT count as having "employees or equipment located in the United States". Unless you OWN servers in the US, then you're fine. If I'm wrong (which I'm pretty sure I'm not), enforcing this would be a nightmare for eBay. If I purchase my hosting from an Indian reseller on DP, and they buy their hosting from a British wholesaler, who rents servers from a guy in Texas.... etc...
They just want to make sure they don't need to make you fill out a W-9 (why any company needs to do this is beyond me). That being said, I used to have an account on EPN and dropped it due to a bunch of different factors. The latest is that they've been dropping accounts. You should always have a few sources of incoming. Expand your providers to mitigate anyone causing trouble.
Yeah thanks alot for your input guys, I defo wouldnt be putting all my eggs in the EPN basket due to all the negative feedback its been getting recently. I'll give it a go and see what happens, nothing ventured nothing gained. If my account gets de-activated then fair enough, i wont be too bothered. thanks again
