A little bit OT, Drazen had to be the first european to play the all star game, he bacame a legend in Croatia. We built him a museum, a monument and named the biggest sport arena in Zagreb by him... a great loss for basketball Speaking about heavyweight fighters - isn't the sport all about them? Who watches light categories anyway?
In the ufc it's not. Other weight divisions actually outweighs (in popularity) the heavyweight division. That's probably the reason why they took cro-cop from pride. May also be the reason why couture went back to heavy.
I've been a fan even before UFC 1 when Gracie ruled and really opened the sport up to using MMA skills instead of just street fighting. It's a bit more commercialized with the reality show and being picked up on Spike now, but it's still fun to watch. I spend way too much $$ on PPV when the fights last less than 30 seconds, but oh well.
Can't believed I missed this thread before. I LOVE UFC! Glad to know I'm not the only one. Last time I posted a thread about UFC hardly anybody knew what the hell I was talking about.
Saturday and time for CroCop's second match is very near, I just can't wait to watch it... The odds on CroCop are just 1.12, so it is so obvious who will win
Fedor has yet to be knocked out. You must be talking about Cro Cop, who was knocked out this weekend. Warning - This is a pretty bad knockout, so don't click if you are uncomfortable with watching that kind of stuff. http://www.dailymotion.com/relevance/search/cro+cop/video/x1sj2d_mirko-cro-cop-vs-gabriel-gonzaga
Glad you enjoyed it. It was a huge upset. Cro Cop is usually the one knocking people out with head kicks. No one thought that was going to happen.
Excellent fights all evening. Only the one before last was a little bit boring... BUT, what the hell happened to Mirko! It was very sad evening for everybody here in Croatia. A lots of disappointment. CroCop was knocked down by his own strongest kick. Good thing is that Mirko is OK and he admitted that he deserved to lose and said that he will return in combat stronger than he was ever before. I was reading a lot about him in Croatian newspapers these days. 20 days ago he had a visit from Jean Claude Van Damme in his home and IMO it was unprofessional to lose time wandering around 2 weeks before his match. People here are pretty sure that Mirko underestimated Gonzaga and that he didn't deserve to win. After his previous losses (Fedor, Minotaur and Randelman) Mirko returned stronger than ever and had some big victories so it was enouraging to see him at the Zagreb airport just 10 hours after the match saying that he still has a lot to show. My thumbs are up for him Can't wait his next match!
ufcmania.com reports that the elbows Mirko received on the ground may have contributed to the K.O. Saying that he had blurred vision when they were stood up. Here is the link http://ufcmania.com/2007/04/24/ufc-quick-quote-elbows-contributed-to-cro-cop-ko/ Mirko's quote was translated from this article http://vecernji.hr/newsroom/sports/more/789437/index.do If anything in the translation is not correct or if there is more good info maybe Mate_pl could let us know.
Then what the hell happen with Cro Cop? Gotta live the Pride fans and their arrogant attitudes Tito is washed up.
I never was a big fan of Tito Ortiz, but I LOVE Georges St. Pierre. He's my favorite right now. It used to be Stephan Bonnar, but I lost a little respect for him when he tested positive for steroids
I don't think that Tito has gotten any worse over the years. In fact I have seen a steady improvement. But the thing is he has been fighting much better competition than he did a few years back, when he was tearing everyone up.
