It depends on what you want to do with it, all ecommerce softwares are all good, you just need to see which one fits your needs, like if you want to sell by wholesale you may consider virtuemart (joomla)

I suggest you not to use oscommerce. Try something else like Magento, Virtuemart for Joomla or Ubercart for Drupal.
osCommerce is like half dead project which has only alphas, betas and release candidates versions. No stable release for years.

osCommerce is god awful. Here are my pros and cons

    Pros:
    - customizable (if you know php, etc) unique store front if you want
    - Fast, loads really quickly

    Cons
    - very hard to add static pages (no cms)
    - SEO urls arn't default and you have install a module for it, but its not that great, you need to know php to install it
    - you need to know php to install alot of the modules you want like gift certificates, rewards, coupons, etc.
    - horrendous back-end

I would suggest Magento, but its really slow, unless your on a fast server or know how to tweak php to make it go faster.

Your best bet in my opinion is to go and check out Open-Cart as i find it to be the easiest install and updates are done quite frequent.

I started by using Prestashop and no one was there to answer a question i had and i waited almost 2 day's still no answer.

I have (and I continue to) used oscommerce since 2003. The reason for no stable releases in years is that in my opinion, hasn't needed one. It is that good to start with. Never had any issues, just added functionality as needed with different modules. Couldn't even spell php when I started, but now I get by just fine. If adding modules makes you nervous, try CRELoaded. They have taken MS2.2 and preloaded it with a slew of modules. Be careful, they are pushing PCI compliance using their network and servers for a hefty fee, when that is not needed anymore if you have the correct module installed.

I too have to say stay away from oscommerce. Even CRE Loaded still leaves you with the poorly put together package of oscommerce. I paid for CRE Loaded B2B 6.3 expecting it to be as they say "rewritten from the ground up". They are doing a great job with bug fixing and releasing proper updates, but overall you are still left with the horrible code structure of oscommerce. Any oscommerce developer will tell you that any real site based on that platform is a complete hackjob.

Instead of stick with Opencart or Megento if for some reason you don't liek opencart.

Try TomatoCart. The admin panel of it mimics windows desktop operations, which makes it possible to work in a efficient and easy way.
