I guess Django is more CMS than blog, but I thought I would ask here. I'm thinking of learning it and wondering how it stacks up against Drupal and WordPress. TIA
Hi hmansfield, thank you for your reply. Django appeals to the programmer in me...it is used a lot by the newspaper industry and has a good rep. But, I think Wordpress has a lot that I don't know about and more flexibility than I'm aware of. I should probably just install both and go to town learning new things
wow hmansfield! I just checked out some of the sites in your sig...damn, you are a wordpress pro! very nice work
Yeah, I checked out that Toronto Magazine they have listed as an example and that looks real nice. Very clean, but the only thing that worries me about platforms that I don't know about is the support. Is the entire platform open source ? themes, Plug ins (if any), or are there some paid options ? Thanks, but I have to give credit to those that design the themes that I use. The rest is pretty much trial and error hacking and a lot of "Let's see if this works."
Django is open source. It is a web application framework like Ruby on Rails as opposed to a content management system like WordPress and Textpattern. So you do need to know Python to get it going. Rails/Django...Drupal...Wordpress and Textpattern all take up additional resources. But, I guess it doesn't matter in today's world of cheap hardware and servers.
