Has anyone here used Yahoo Answers for good quality backlinks and traffic?

I have heard lots about that.

I've gotten a few hits from it, I think it's possible, but you would have to spend time writing decent answers to get traffic. Can't hurt, however.

Its all about coming up with the right solution to their problem?

Either way I think its an excellent way to get traffic. I have not really tried any methods with Yahoo Answers but as opposed to other sites its much targeted.

    Thanks for the response anyway!

I can be a good way to get some traffic but is most effective if your answer gets picked as the "best". I've found it's actually really easy to get picked as the best answer if you simply write an informative answer, therefore it helps if you know a lot about the niche of the website you are aiming to get traffic to.

I tried it and i have found it to be pretty good. I found a question saying something like, "Does anyone know of a PHP script that does this?" and i just replied with a link to my website and it worked a treat.

Yes. I also know that some larger companies use it as well. Some have answered over 100 questions with a 75% best answer rate. Great for branding as well as traffic.

I joined a week ago and have had a few answers picked as the best. I put a link to my website in some of them but not all. I've seen some answers rated negatively if there was nothing more than a link, and there is a "report abuse" button available to everyone. So not sure how much moderation Yahoo actually does. In terms of traffic, it is too soon to tell in my case.

Hi this is coming from someone who has 67% best answers and 3,138 total points :) I used to have a myspace help pages and recieved alot of signups through the yahoo answers

Remember alot of people do not vote on the answers given they post Q's then forget about them! the Question then winds up going into voting about 3 weeks later and alot of them never get voted on and sometimes the Q's remain for 3 months until someone votes

here is a hint YOU are Allowed to vote for yourself so look for the Questions that you have answered that are in voting and give them a vote!

the best answers do get picked up by content scrapers yes they don't just scrape article directories any more lol

yahoo Q's gets into google about 3 days after you get best answered it can be on google for months so yes answers is a pretty good thing to use when your first starting out

It may bring in traffic but a serious amount of hardwork is needed. I do suggest that one has the time and patience for it to work big time

I think it comes down to knowledge at the end of the day. If you don't know how to use yahoo answers then you will not get much traffic and it will take you much longer to find the questions that are still looking for answers, but if you know how to use it, then it will make things much easier and quicker for you.

Exactly, it works much better if you already are an expert on whatever the subject is. Otherwise it is too much work - first you have to find a question that you can answer which doesn't already have a bunch of helpful answers then write a good and helpful answer yourself!

Some people set aside like an hour every day just to answer questions but they say it pays off.

I use it from time to time when I'm really bored at work and don't really want to actually work. I think it works really well for some niches, like video games and arcade sites. Many people post about information on these topics, or they will even ask for a link to new games they can find on the net.

But, at the same time, I don't know if I really get repeat visitors from it...
