Hey, to any of you that use VirtueMart - do you know if it could also be used within the store as a Point of Sale solution?

Point of Sale is a computer system used within a store to do orders right there, like a fancy cash register

Yes, obviously, that's what it is! But have you used it for an in-store sales solution?

why couldn't you just setup a PC with internet connection and access the site with virtuemart.. and if you need buy some fancy hardware and make it seem more as a sales terminal.

I guess that would work. But would a new user account have to be created for each customer?

    VirtueMart: Yes, I use it.

Registration: For tracking purposes yes, and for shipping if the good will be ship yes. However for things that the customers will pick up instantly, you can avoid individual registration.

For store point of sales I would full recommend registration.

You could do it as a POS. The person at the "cash register" would need to input much the same info as other systems, I would imagine.

I've entered people over the phone quite easily. Otherwise, you could use Authorize.net in a Virtual Terminal configuration and enter the info there.

You may want to contact Authorize.net for more information.
