I use a HostGator dedicated server for 2 years now. Very good support and knowledge, but if you have a Raid array, please double-check it's properly set up and that they have a script that detects degraded arrays so that you know when to change your defectuous HDD!! Also they promissed a FreeBSD server, and after paying they said that FreeBSD wouldn't work properly with cPanel. I got mad, but anyway, I have RHEL, and that's not too bad. That was basically the only problems with them. They use the Planet data center.
I had tons of problems with Hostgator and left a few months ago, I got a plan with more for a little less from Site5 and have been happy!
I'm finding them to be incredibly flexible and reliable, with awesome support thanks for the recommendations everyone!!
They have lost all my databases, they have just disappeared. I had 2 sites on there with databases. I am on the babycroc package $10 a month. I have been trying to sort it out with there support all day. Any of you had this problem with hostgator before?
Yes, just about the same time, I had a server that lost some database users and id's (on a reseller account). Just went and restored from my backup. Never bothered to check what happened. Never had a problem like this one. Figured it was isolated.
They have great uptime . No complaints from me. I highly recommend them. The only problem they don't accept Games sites
what do you mean no games sites? There's nothing illegal about that! why on earth would a policy disallow it?
I use hostgator, I have simple static page sites. I have contacted their customer service a few times, but I feel that their service is decent. No complaints
Beware of their offer of unlimited domains! As soon a your account uses more resources than they like. You may find your account shut down? When it happened to me the only option they gave me was a dedicated server. I am now hosting my sites elsewhere on a VPS server for a fraction of what they wanted to charge me!
Don't know about them, but I have used ehost.net for a while with mysql and no problems. I only paid $9.95 for a year.
Curious if anyone has had a Hostgator reseller account shut down due to using too many resources? If so how many websites were you hosting? Were you given any warning? What hosting options did Hostgator offer you after your account was shut down?
but that's why you have WHM and whm autopilot, it's really your responsibility as a reseller to monitor the server status I don't disagree with the practice
I joined a month ago. No real complaints so far... but its early days yet. Support has not been mega fast so far, but certainly fair. Will report back again later.
theHoff - I'll be using your sig a second time to sign up for another account (only because I don't think I can refer myself...) you must be happy that I started this thread!
