I use hostgator for my sites and I do have a couple of gripes about the customer service. If you do ever have a problem with anything do not even bother talking to someone on their live chat, the people are incompetent and can't really do anything for you. every problem i've had with them i've spent a half hour on live chat to only be told that i need to submit a support ticket so that someone who actually knows what they are doing can fix the problem.

best way to get good support is email them. their live chat is for only general support - technical support is good and prompt when contacted by email :)

I had a shared hosting plan, and because of the resource usage by a 10 page static website, I had to be moved to a $280 per month dedicated server, and since then everything is fine. A+++ Service and Support, but just that the preice for their dedicated servers is higher then the normal industry rates.

I had HostGator and they were terrible for support and was told different stories by their sales department .. I also had a dedicated server with them and their sales department will tell you anything to keep you from cancelling or admitting fault. THEY SUCK!

yes that happens with them this way when more resources are used by a site on a shared account but I am surprised that it happened with your static site, honey - cause normally it happens with database driven sites - your static site must be extremely popular:)

If that is reasonable, check Hostony( in my sig) : 400GB bandwith at 6.95/month and i assure you they are highly proffesional. I think this is all you would need for an internet biz ;)

Ok i do not get 10 000 a day but i have 200 domains on my reseller hosting as some one said if they shut one down for resell then just cancel that one. They are so fast sometimes in support that i do not have time to answer them back :) They always have CHAT if the server should have any big problem and i mean ALWAYS. They transfer 25 domains for you free.

Serach for discount coupons on the internet you will find loads that will give you many diffrent prices.

I do like hostgator but came to the same conclusion :) . They should just replace their phone people with a message that says email support. Most problems have been addressed within the hour of emailing them.

Okay so I just found out that Host Gator charges a one-time fee of $10 if you want to upgrade or downgrade your hosting account. This is B$, and I'll be moving my sites to another host as soon as the month is up. No way I'm paying when everyone and their momma does upgrades for free.

Let me clarify by saying that I wanted to downgrade an account, but in their "downgrade" form they charge a $10 one-time fee. I'm not certain rather they charge for upgrading an account or not, but even so, it's crap that they charge at all, when no one else does.

I do not have any problem with there reseller system even that the "free" extra they give you do not include a 25 $ fee. Well i never used that thing anyway so i do not care. But with no downtime in 3 month now and a Ultra Fast answer that i can say is the best i seen on ANY website i EVER seen i give them my hand up.
