just curious..I own a funny domain name that I may want to develope, but I don't want to waste time because I here funny sites don't make much money. I wonder how much a funny site in Alexa top 5,000 can make...any thoughts?

I think funny sites make money well too . But there're so many funny sites around. So, if you can offer something unique on your site you'll earn much money.

hmmm can you be more specific at all? Thanks for the info so far. I just heard most funny sites are hard to monetize even with a lot of traffic

Traffic won't covert as well but you if you offer something like funny games and put your ads in a smart way then you could have a pretty good ctr.

I own http://www.bollox.net and it makes about $50 a month. It's nothing fantastic but it requires no maintenance so just brings a steady trickle in. It all helps! :)

I think you're right - they are hard to monetize - but I think that's just due to the amount of competition out there.

Try and make sure that you're offering something different and that you update your content regularly :)
