Just wondering for those in mail order? Is it still profitable, or is online marketing taking over?

Mail order for products or using mail to send out advertisements?

I would ask the same? The question is somewhat unclear.

Anyway, in general, online advertisement are today far more popular than traditional offline mail ones. However, some of the established names in a niche, believe it is a matter of tradition and "good taste" in advertising to contact their clients via the good old mail.

I ment mail order as a business. IE: Selling products offline, and following up with postcards, direct mail letters, etc...

i had an offline mail-order perfume business last year and found that following up with direct mail improved our sales a lot. Especially during Mothers day and Christmas.

Later on, we did open an online perfume store and found a much lower response rate when using PPC, Banners and Email Marketing. So we stuck with the direct mail and email marketing.

There's been a huge shift back towards postal direct response marketing, because emails are getting filtered heavily now.

While it might seem to be more expensive than proper email marketing, it's not necessarily so.
