I hear a lot of people talking about blog spamming get you banned, from google index but has anyone themselves got banned for blog and forum spam from google? Im just wondering if its a myth because the net is full of blog and forum spammers right now.

I don't know of anyone being banned but I'm sure of two things:
    1. If you start bothering a lot of webmasters at some point they'll report you to the search engines and after a while you'll probably get banned.
    2. Blog Spamming is a really old black hat technique, most do follow blogs now have a good captcha or at least constantly monitor the comments so if I were you I wouldn't waste my time spamming blogs.

I do not think anybody would have received A BAN or de-indexing from google for blog commenting.

If the purpose of such spamming was link building, then google would simply not consider them as good backlinks when comments are on irrelevant niche...Hence such efforts would anyway go down the drain!

There is a big difference between blog commenting and blog spamming! We constantly comment on blogs that are in the same niche as our company, but we only comment when we actually have something valuable to say and we don't do it by the thousand.
If you start sending out thousands of automated comments without anything but "hey great post!" and your link, I'm sure that at some point people will start reporting you as a spammer to google and you'll probably get some penalization.

yeah im talking about blog spamming where its pretty bold. I hear a lot about people saying google will ban you, but I haven't heard anyone say it happened to them personally. It makes me wonder if people are just repeating others or if there is some truth to it.

Can't say I know of anyone that actually got banned. You might look into syndk8.net and ask there, they have
"The Teary-eyed Times" Your one-stop shop for all your banning, de-listing, and drop in traffic/revenue rants...even if just speculation.
Maybe there you'll find someone that got banned for blog spamming. Anyways if you want to get into black hat I wouldn't do blog spamming, it is a really outdated technique. I like reading black hat forums and in the last year or so it seems that most black hatters stop spending time on comment spam.

I never heard of that site. Ill check it out. what is the "in thing" for black hatters these days then? Seems like most of the other black hat stuff is probably way too temporary (like hacking or shady redirects, etc) and could change on a whim if google changes algorithms or someone reports your site.

The all idea behind black hat is that it is temporary! The biggest black hatters make a killing on a website for a couple of months and than start over again, the smarter ones have a new site ready and ranking before the other one is penalized. The entire black hat concept is to achieve high rankings in the least amount of time taking the risk of being de indexed at some point.
If you want to learn about black hat techniques join syndk8.net, you'll learn everything you need there. I personally do not recommend it unless you have disposable domains and don't care about your site reputation, but I do follow black hat forums, they are always on top of the latest SEO trends and most of the time actually provide good accepted SEO strategies. While here most people are still talking about search engine submissions and directory submission at syndk8 they are analyzing the latest google bombs and keywords with millions of searches per month.

Nope, no bans, and I have been doing it for weeks. You have to be smart though... .That is where a lot of people go wrong.

depends what you mean by 'banned'.

A lot of blogs nowadays use antispam measure like akismet. Enough people click 'spam' on your comments, and the URLS you are trying to promote will 'get banned' by akismet - ie. when you try and post to a blog with that antispam feature, you'll just get a blank page. robo-blog spammers tend to run up against that one pretty fast.

my impression (without any proof) was that if you link building showed a large spike (from comment spamming or other efforts) that you put yourself at risk for being "banned" from the search engines. as others have said, though, i don't think that commenting on relevant blogs (no matter how much) is considered spam or black-hat

I think too much spam links is worthless, but it's worth if getting links from related niche. I only can rank one my static site on google first page but it has no keyword on the domain. My other keyword domain didn't seem appear in first page. All site in the same spam links. Maybe there are explanation on it but I can't figure it out.

Im talking about real blog spammers who dropped a link pretty blatantly with anchor text with little regard to giving a quality comments.
