Social networks are useless, I've been a member at orkut for about a half year and I havn't visited in month's ( neither did all the people I know ).
may be social networks are useless as Percept said... but i found many people known in real life that I've no more occasion to meet like a friend webdesigner from brasil that i've known in NYC That's so funny and crazy!
As with most things in life, what you get out of social networks is strongly correlated to what you put into them.
