    Advertising (learn more)

    Advertise virtually anything here, with CPM banner ads, CPM email ads and CPC contextual links. You can target relevant areas of the site and show ads based on geographical location of the user if you wish.

    Starts at just $1 per CPM or $0.10 per CPC.

Anyone heard of the new CPA ads? They are going to be awesome!!!

    Basically you will only have to pay per lead or per sale...

    I think this is going to be great for webmasters without capital as they CANT lose money...

    Though I dont know if this will boost ROI...

    This could also produce a huge flow of poor quality ads...

    Whats your take on this?

    Personally I can going to sit back and see how this one churns out...

    I'm curious to see what they will allow under this. Say you have a page with adsense and a product your selling for example. Your CPA is setup for the product your selling. So someone goes to your site, doesn't buy anything, but clicks on an ad...so you just got free traffic and a click-through. I wonder if Google will care about this or impose some sort of rule to makes sure this doesn't happen. What types of rules do they have concerning this in Azoogle?

    CPA could be a very good thing. Everyone who uses Adwords is ultimately looking for some type of *action* from the visitor--whether it's an order, a form submission, a newsletter signup, etc. The only downside is potential misuse/abuse - just like invalid clicks on Adwords. Google will need to monitor invalid/bogus/duplicate CPA's.

    I'm not so sure. With 10's of thousands of advertisers working on a CPA model, it'll be the ones who convert the best and are willing to bid more per action who get the publishers promoting them, as they'll be earning more money whilst the advertisers are working on negligible returns.

    When large companies are prepared to make no money on a sale just to get brand exposure and a possible repeat customer, will it really be that easy for smaller advertisers to compete?

    Just food for thought ;)

    I'll be setting some of these campaigns up this week (from an advertisers point of view) and will post here and at my blog.

    I hope they release it to the general public soon. I sent an application in a few days ago (as a publisher) and I still haven't heard anything.

    CPA is not PPA. There is a big difference. I think there is a lot of confusion out there that Google is jumping into the CPA space, when that's not what its about...

    I've always assumed, and heard each defined as;

    PPA = Pay Per Action

    CPA = Cost Per Action

    They pretty much mean the same thing from what I can tell.

    I have a habit of missing the abvious though...
