Anyone heard of domain leasing?

I got an email today from a site called leaseem.com where I can list my domain names I'm not using and if someone is interested in mine we can work out a monthly price. I'm tempted to try it out since it is only $5 for a year. I have some for sale with sedo but they tend to sell pretty slowly if at all before I have to re-register them or lose them. I've never tried selling one on DP though so maybe that's my problem. :)

Anyone have any experience with this?

did they ask you to pay $5 beforehand or after you get your site leased to someone? I smell a scam, you will pay them $5 and chances are that is how your relationship with them end

I'm not sure. I didn't get that far into it yet. But I imagine I'll have to pay $5 upfront. I mean, I have to pay ebay to list even if I don't sell my item. But, I didn't see anything like flippa.com where I have to pay a final value fee or percentage of any income from the lease.

Save your $5. No one would ever pay monthly for a domain.

Maybe. I can see that crappy domains wouldn't never lease (and I gotz plenty of those...lol ) but ones that get type-in traffic could maybe. I mean, there is a guy selling bllog.com today on DP for $500. I think its a good deal ( potentially ) but I can also see how some people can't risk $500 on a domain now days. But, they could pay like $20/month no problem. Seems like it would be a win win for both.

Technically when you buy a domain name, you are leasing it. You don't own the domain name. once you don't renew your lease, you lose it.
