I'm curious what this greyed out bar looks like. If its darker than a PR 0.

Hmmm thats what I was afraid of!

The site looks just like a PR 0

Whats the easiest way to verify that the site isn't banned?

    Just google site:http://www.exampleurl.com ??

Yes, I thinks so. If it's an old site and not indexed - then it's most probably banned.

The site I mentioned is one of the Genbucks affiliate sites, that all got deindexed by google this year.

Yes, Google the exact url for the domain. If nothing comes up it's banned.

If you use googles webmaster tools and have a sitemap at google in the tools area, it will tell you if the site is indexed. Off of that dialogue there is an area to click and beg forgiveness. I am 1 for 2 in getting a url re-indexed.

    One clear example is /www.text-link-ads.com/
It still appears in Google index but if you perform a search with the term Text Link Ads in Google, you will find that Text Link Ads no longer holds the number one spot for their own name
