I have had 3 servers with SoftLayer going onto 8 month now, had no problems at all, support is great - couldn't be any better! this company really does care about it's clients and I like them. What are your thoughts? would you use SoftLayer for your business or are you already a customer? Thank you, NashTax.
I had a server with ThePlanet that ran flawlessly for about 3.5 years and needed to upgrade a few months ago. Beginning in October, I put online a server from SoftLayer to replace it. The thing that drew me to them was that they had a lot more granularity in their configuration options (much more than ThePlanet) and I could upgrade later for basically the same price as if I had done it initially. It turns out that most of the management team at SoftLayer are ex-ThePlanet executives, so that made me feel more comfortable. I now have two servers with SoftLayer and both are running great. I've only been with them for a couple of months, but so far so good. I do use a different company for server management though, so I've not needed to use SoftLayer support much.
I had a couple of servers with them for a month. They were great, but I just didn't need the servers anymore.
We have a bunch of servers with them and almost all my clients host with them; they are very good and you cannot really beat the pricing / service ratio I think. Note however that you need to know something about servers and hosting; they are not that tailored to beginners.
