I have just set up an account today after reading about this great tool in the forums. Missed out on this the first time round as I thought this was more for ads; didn't realise the tremendous impact on links.

Shawn, is it a deliberate move not to mention about this benefit in your main co-op page? Also, what would be the effect if more and more people sign up? If everyone starts getting few hundred backlinks, it would become more competitive and difficult to be ranked highly. I guess people who have more pages (weight) would have a huge advantage. And SE might just tweak their algo if they stumble on what we are doing.

I dont think Google could do much about it...No code is returned, only anchored backlinks.

If they tweak the algo for coop..It would have to mean the end of link value anyways.I dont think that will happen anytime soon. The coop is clearly one of the safest methods of trading links right now.

    My Storry:

Keyword "dzwonki polifoniczne" (polyphonic ringtones for poland). I had beed stuck at #4 for 2-3 months. I had no chance of geting #1, becasue i had to fight mega blog spamers (30 000 links from blog spam !). With my first coop ad network setup I got #1 for this keyword in just one month !!.

Second keyword "dzwonki" (ringtones in polish) i had beed stuck at #7, the same thing with blog spamers in the top 5. With coop i now have #4 place and i hope i will improve.

For both keywords i'm #1 allinanchor.

Seeing all these results is very encouraging but do people really believe that Google is going to sit back and watch their results being manipulated like this for long?

I seriously doubt it and would put money on the result being that if they can't find a way to discount results from the coop specifically then they will further discount all links from sites that are not relevant to content.

I certainly agree with that comment.. If Google makes search results more relevant by only counting relavant keyworded links, I think that's a great step towards what we would like to see. Most of the sites promoted by people on this forum are extremely high quality and would be well suited to have junk links thrown out anyway.

    OMG OMG !! :D
    Ok...........................
I honestly have no clue if perhaps joining this program is what did it or if it is because I have been working my butt off (litterally) to get my site higher in the rankings for my impossible keyword but........ I joined this over the weekend and got everything up and went from being on page 10 (just recently rose from page 11 (and sometimes off the map 200+) ... and POOF! Page 5, which I haven't seen since that nasty Florida update which was also nastily effected by the sandbox.
I did notice that other people are talking about some movements in google and nothing is ever solid but i havent seen rankings like this in a long long time. But, it does look good across the board. The lowest rank i see is on page 6, and I will happily take it!! :D It's definitely a giant leap in the right direction. Crazy thing is, my "other" keyword that I had been working for not as strongly and not on here, hasnt really moved much.
Soooooo.... a BIG THANKS!!! To all of you. :D

I certainly welcome such move by G.

What I'm afraid is that G may counter our thinking with another move. They could count relevant keyworded links against the themed keywords of the web pages.

This could spell disaster to us because our links are all over the place of many unrelated theme. :<

On the other hand, if G were to implement such algo, it could give extra financial burden. Imagine how much data they've to store. They've to acquire lots of computers :)
