Anyone Happy with Facebook ads?

Discussion in 'Google AdWords' started by johndoes, Jan 16, 2009.

I bought some coupons yesterday and created about 20 ads. After 3-4 hours(!) all of my ads were disapproved. There's no chance to edit and resubmit the ads. The disapproval reason was that I have not indicated the offer details in the ad text.

So far, this is the worst ad medium I've ever happened to see.

Does anyone use Facebook ads effectively?

    Yes and no.
Their disapprovals are wayward and unpredictable beyond belief. I've found myself starting arguments over whether a fullstop is in the wrong place, before taking a deep breath and recognising it wasn't worth the effort.
In terms of results - less successful in terms of conversion as you might hope given that you can target so tightly - but actually very useful for research on those grounds.
It my experience an ad gets 'tired' on facebook very quickly, and is best delivered in a short quick burst, then 'retired' for a bit.

I have about $100+ coupons that expires on 30th Jan, but I can't run any ads to use the funds.

IF I won't be able to have an approved ad soon, I'll just write my name on the ad. Maybe they can approve that.

LoL, make yourself famous. What is your topic/product for them not to be approved?

Simple email submits. But they want me to explain all the details of the offer in 135 characters. They're not satisfied with the info / warnings on the offer page. I don't get it. If my ads are misleading, "I" will lose money. That's not their job to protect my budget.

    silly thing

But you have to remember at the same time, that misleading ads may also reflect the service that they are providing to the public. I know it's stupid but it covers their backs and allows them to keep a healthy reputation.

The actual problem is that they don't have mechanism like quality score. Google does this automatically (sometimes with some flaws). Facebook fellows are trying to "judge" on your ads.

I run some ads on Facebook and it sends really huge amounts of traffic. None of my ads were disapproved so far.
I think they like entertainment type of websites.

The most important benefit I've seen is lots of people become regular visitors if they like your site and keep coming back.

I was going to try it but in the end it wasn't worth the effort.

Some of my affiliates are getting sales from it therefore i guess it works. But yes they are a bit strict with the approval process.

All I have to say is that their ads and ad selection is poor, sub-standard, tasteless,
with bad discerment, and to top it off, they don't convert. But that's just my take
    from a small campaign.

Can anyone help me write a valid ad? I really don't get where I'm doing wrong.

I just signed up today and my first ad was approved in about 3 hours. It's just an offer for a free cell phone if the visitor enters an email address. I made the ad very simple, put in a photo and I guess it passed the acid test. We'll see if it converts.

I don't believe it! I've created more than 20+ ads for email submit offers, but none of them were accepted. Would you please share your ad text with me through PM?

    I'm back.
After having 20+ ads disapproved, I decided to test Facebook's standards.
Thanks to christian231, I copy & pasted one of his working ads and submitted with exactly the same information.
    And..
That ad got disapproved too. Yes, the same ad working in another account got disapproved in my account.

Facebook may or may not work for you, but if you don't want to take risks, stay away. This is one of the worst foundations of the net.

    Annoyingly ridiculous.

They are frustrating, but if you're consistently getting all ads refused, it does suggest that it's the landing page, or the relationship between the ad and the landing page, that's the problem. As I remember, they do give general reasons as to why the ad is refused - what are they saying?

This is the explanation. But it's way too vague. In my ad text, I tell that a set of actions are reqiured to get the free prize. I also put the warning "Participation required - see offer details".

What else can I do? Or anyone can do? If I tell every step, then thats not an ad, that's a landing page.

You could try different offers because it could be that they don't like the landing page. After your first few rejections they may have banned the URL of your landing page so no amount of editing your advert will do. I take it you don't own this landing page and it's from an affiliate company?
