    Hi,
Well first of all what is tineye.com all about? whell it's an image search engine. but not a regullar one where you enter some text and it returns images that match your criteria. Here you upload or enter the url of an image and the search engine finds images that look approximately the same.
What's the use? well for example you can search for a higher-quality version of an image or see if someone illegaly copied your image... it will show up in the searches even if it was modified.

I had a chance to test it a bit (it's still in private beta and you need to request an invitation to use it) and i'd say it looks promising.

So what do you think about it?

    I just got accepted :)

    My review is:
it's cool, it doesn't actually search for the same picture but it searches for the same name i think.. it outputs all PAGES that uses the pic.

for example try searching for the dp logo..It outputs hundreds maybe thousands of thread here on DP.

i think it'll take too much resources for them..

It looks cool but I don't know when I would actually have a use for this? If anything I think they should advertise it as a way to protect your copyrighted images. You would browse the net to see if anyone else is using your image. I don't get why I would want to search for websites with the same image? Can anyone elaborate on this?

First time I heard that site. I visit their site a while ago and I see the short description on their homepage.

"TinEye is an image search engine built by Idée currently in private beta. Give it an image and it will tell you where the image appears on the web."

I don't know what really the use of this.

Well it doesn't return only exact copies. The search engine returns variations of an image as results too. You are right though, daily internet users won't use it too much.

It doesn't search by the name of the image but by it's content. You can try and rename the picture and modify it a bit (add some lines in it) and chances are the search engine will still find good results.

WHat is the URL - how do you get a chance to test it? Sounds very interesting.
