Anyone had any issues using a case with magnetic closure for their iPod touch?

I recently bought a leather case for my iPod touch that has a magnetic closure on the front. I have a gen 1 iPod touch in perfect working order and have just heard that the magnets could harm the device or cause it to die completely. Is this true? Do any of you use cases with magnetic closures with your iPod touch?

I don't have an ipod touch, but I do know that magnets and some electronics do not like each other (Put a HDD or DV tape on an unshielded speaker and see what happens, or place an unshielded speaker next to an old CRT TV)...
Having said that. Some electronic devices (phones, PDA's etc) can actually make use of magnets to initiate sleep mode, turn off the screen, auto lock the device etc, but the magnets are very low power and positioned just right.

A good quality case like a nutshell ipod touch case will have magnetic shielding in place for the mag tab that protects the device, and will also have a magnet positioned in the right place to initialize sleep mode etc, if the device supports it.

Cheaper cases may or may not have proper shielding.
