I used to get in this directory with no problem. Now, it seems impossible. Anyone had any luck lately?

Yes and no. I actually managed to get another listing from them for a content-based site quite recently. But some categories can be hell to get into.

A case in point, directories. Has anyone managed to get a new one listed in there in the past year?

Submitted a new site of mine today. We'll see what happens. I'll post in here with my results. They say about 2 weeks, but who knows...

Don't be surprised if you're still waiting after 12 months or more. ;)

I've had 3 sites put into DMOZ out of 4. (between 2 weeks and 2 months)

You'll never believe it: The one that didn't was a bit shite! lol

Only bother if your site is an authorative voice on the subject (or getting close but with different information to the main site)

I guess it depends on the editors to a certain extent too.

I add 3 sites and 2 of them accepted less than 2 weeks. Because my site's mainpage is not really content rich its denied but other 2 subdomains accepted...

The two I've had approved were accepted in under two weeks but I've also submitted several which I consider are quality and authoritative content sites without success.

My general impression is that it largely depends on the editor.

Editor, categories etc. "video games" have pretty active team that cleans up most submissions quickly and there isn't much spam coming in, usually only problem are submissions of non-English sites which needs to be moved to proper World category.

But many root categories have a single editor which has to cover everything and if some subcategories are spam magnet... :(

it depends completely on the editor. My advice, try and get an editor's position yourself, then network a bit to get your main sites in. It's crooked, if you ask me, but so is the DMOZ.....

It took me 5 days to get my site listed, went in this morning!
I did submit 2 months ago to a different catagory which didnt/hasnt been listed, although it hasnt been updated for a long time now according to the "last edited" date

But i think its all down to the editor & thier work load as previously said

It should be impossible - it is against the rules to list an affiliate site. You might get lucky and find an editor you can fool but it will get removed again as soon as another editor looks at it.
