Anyone gotten blacklisted from using directories?

Am I the only person who uses the directories listed on this site and continuously sees my websites get blacklisted on Yahoo within 2 weeks after submitting?

I even had a 2 year old site get thrown out after submitting to about 30 of them over a 2 week period.

    Rediculous.

Post the url, I'd like to take a look.... I really doubt it is from submiting your site based on anything you found here.....

It's very rare that submitting your site would get you banned unless the only places you were listed were all bad......

I really don't think Yahoo would penalise you for submitting to directories. If they did - we'd all be hurrying to submit our competitors sites.

No way submitting to directories can HURT you. I am sure there must be some other reason.
May be that any of your competitiors has used some Black Hat technique against you banning you from yahoo.

No directory submissions can hurt. Keep in mind they are one way links coming from different IP;s. How can that hurt ?

Yah, I had this same questions. But that's a good point norfstar, if that was the case, it would be too easy for people to blacklist their competitors.

Explain this to us please. How can getting a link from a directory put you into a "bad neighborhood"?

    token20,

I seriously doubt its from directory submissions alone.

I am listed in just about all of them, and my site suffers from no penalty in yahoo or google.

I too have my HT site in a LOT of directories and it went up in PR last update so I too believe it must be another factor which is hurting you. Perhaps keyword stuffing? Don't know but take a look at your site and see if you. I do believe that if you get tooooo many links toooo quick it will be viewed as "un-natural" and could hurt you a bit....

I have an almost one year-old site that has only two pages in Yahoo! index: homepage and urllist.txt :(. I really don't know why Yahoo doesn't like my site.

Create a HTML site-map for your site and submit that page to Yahoo or if you have RSS feed submit it your site will definitely get indexed.

The urllist.txt is the feed that Yahoo! requires.
I sent some emails to Yahoo! to ask, but never get response.
