Has anyone tried the yahoo directory listing? I would like to know if they drive in traffic?

Because thinking of paying about 300US$ for one year just to promote a site with almost zero income daily is ahem....

Anyone got good experience in boosting traffic and PR?

    Hello guys,

I would really like to try out the yahoo directory. My question is:

1- Will it helps bring in MORE traffic daily? By how much?
2- Will it helps to raise PR?
3- Any good point? Or simply a waste of money?

My erea is Flash game (Doubt it's already saturated)...

    Thanks guys,

are you meaning that you wanted to pay the $299.00 ?
then no, just get some good quality links, have good contents on your site,
have proper Title, kw, desp and ranks should come in naturally

From my experience, and what I hear at the SES conferences, buying that yahoo listing really helps yahoo rankings. Yahoo seems to favor sites listed in it's directory quite a bit.

It's a good link for G and MSN too.

Maybe it helps in Yahoo searches, but that's it. I wouldn't pay more than $50 to be listed... therefore I spent my money on MSN's small business directory instead.

Both of these statements are very true. Dollar for dollar, the MSN small business directory is probably the best directory purchase out there... and the Yahoo directory does mainly only help Yahoo serps, but it does provide a little kick for the other SEs too :)

    yes, much cheaper.

For $50 they give you three themed links, and a "business card" with the option to have a few more deep links.

I purchased the 3 website package for $99... so it worked out to $33 each! What a deal! They approved my first site in a couple days... been about a week and they haven't approved the second yet. Still haven't submitted the third. It's a confusing and hard to navigate system they have though. Hard to get back to where you submit links and I still haven't figured out the place to check submission.

I think it helps a little but really "just a little"... cant really justify the cost.

toby .. the Pr and authority link well worth it .. just makes sure you pick a good Pr cat with a small amount of other people linking out of it ... in fact that goes for any directory

I have had my Pet Site Listed in the Yahoo Directory for over a year now. It provides a great back link and does boost PR for your site.

As for traffic, occasionally I get some traffic from the directory, but if you are mainly wanting to submit to it for the traffic, I would suggest finding a cheaper solution like Microsofts Small Business Directory.

As for Microsofts Small Business, that also provides a great back link (My site is also listed in that) and a small amount of traffic due to your ability to list 3 or more pages along with your index.

thank you everyone for the input. Ya, finally I think MSN small business is better choice as I'd like some boost in traffic and not just PR purpose.

    Really appreciate everyone's input, you guys r g8 :D

I suggest that you make the site SE friendly by enabling the url rewriting in the admin panel of phpLD. This would attract more link submitters
