I currently have a mortgage with first direct and I work permanent. However, in a couple of years I'm thinking of going self employed as a contractor. What effect would that have on my mortgage? Just been reading up on a loads of contractor mortgage info, but there's nothing about going from perm to contractor with an existing mortgage. Would I have to declare a change in the way I get my earnings to first direct? Will I have to negotiate a different mortgage type? Obviously I can't see the bank being too happy that the way I earn may change. Any help or advice would really be appreciated. Just like to weigh up all my options well in advance.
