Ok....so the only traffic the site was ever getting was directly from Adwords?

if the site was getting other traffic, or you weren't specifically segmenting out the Adwords traffic for the case of this analysis than the results are skewed.

Just a question. Do you mean using it for affiliate programs?

    this is about eCPM.

if your average cpc is 0.05 cents then if your eCPM is less then $50 BAD

if your average cpc is 0.05 cents then if your eCPM is morethen $50 GOOD

This sound like the Google Ad* version of day trading.

It is an interesting idea though and conceivably with the right combos it could work quite well. However the level of maintenance it would require seems a little extreme. Minor changes in things could throw you way off and cost you a lot.

Fundamentally day trading and Ad* Arbitrage are both buy low sell high. Day trading has unlimited buying opportunities but limited spreads due to market efficiency. Ad* arbitrage is limited by the amount of traffic available with a good spread between average CPC and eCPM and requires some content.

When you have a new topic, you would want to track it closely. Once you've established that you are getting more back then you pay out then you can just monitor it. Most topics should see fairly level traffic and fairly stable spreads between what you pay and get paid. Many days I do no maintenance just monitoring.

We have a niche site that has an mid $xxx eCPM on Adsense. We found some keywords that only cost 10cents a click via Adwords.

So... we are giving the Adwords > Adsense thing a shot, I'll post back and say if it was worth it or not :)

Here's a tip: If 10 cents works well, try 11 cents. You may bump your traffic up significantly by getting above a nominal bid price that others may also be bidding at.

I do this with great success. Of course, the way to really make it profitable is to have a high adsense CTR. It takes alot of work initially and some daily maintenance, but I do very well with this idea.

I also do this with some success. With the new inactive keywords though it can be a problem. Funny thing is in one campaign a word went inactive that I was spending a lot on and got the most clicks, but then I realized my Adsense revenue didn't suffer from this one keyword being disabled, it worked out better for me.

It would be funny if you could track which Adword keywords get people to click on Adsense ads.

I will try this soon for a few :)

    Interesting if this works out.

I noticed the more traffic my site gets, the more ads pay out, weird eh?

Many people have used adwords to increase adsense, but my experience is that if you bid very low for adwords, you get very poor click through rate and if you bid high, you must get 70% click thru rate to break even.

However if your site is able to get repeat visitors or a site is so tempting(which i have seen has click thru rate of more than 100% as a visitor clicks more than 1 ad)then it is definitely good
By the way, any takers for this news that google considers ad thru adwords as backwards text links. Is it true?

    That's idiotic and 100% untrue.

But hey, at least you got to post another of your spammy links without actually adding anything of value to the conversation.

I have been earning very good $$ with my web site and Adsense and recently started an adwrods account. I have a travel content web site that converst at about $8 CPM with Adsense and I setup my adwords account to get clicks from the content network for $0.01 cent per click. I have 1500 keywords targetted to race and I get about 3000 clicks daily. I spend $30 to get the 3000 clicks from Adwords and I am guranteed to earn more than $60 with my Adsense, I use a channel to track it separate. I am only willing to spend $50 a day right now so I set my sister up with an adwords account to promote my web site and she is also doing very well with it too, as a result of her success I have set up a 90% rev share program for my site. It's very cool to watch the stats as they are in realtime. I work with 2 screens so I have the adwrods in 1 screen and Adsence in the other. YEs... it works

I think this is the best Forum on WWW.
And I must tell you that is very useful to use AdWords to drive traffic to site, not only because of AdSense.

I've had success with this as well. Adwords can definitely work well with an Adsense site...you can also look at using some of the smaller PPC outfits to drive traffic to your adsense sites.

I've tried a few smaller PPC engines out and the one I definitely had little success with was Miva (my experience only here).
