I have a bunch of sites. I tried social monkey and submitted a few posts. We 2 of my sites took a big hit from the Google Penguin Update. I build my all my sites the same way and get links through white hat methods. So when they tanked I looked for answers. On my Google Webmaster Tools dash I see links coming from these sites: en.itsex.cn se.hellogeneration.com tr.gruil.com www allnetseek.com I never physically visited these site nor would I build links at those places. Thats what leads me to think Social Monkeee is the culprit. Any one else notice a drop from social monkee?
Social Monkee is an ineffective way to build links for your sites, I'm not surprised Google caught you on this.
For me is exactly on other way. After the penguin update my website suffer a lot. Outranking 8 pages in 3 weeks. I started useing social monkee with pro member and after first week these social bookmark backlinks was like an handbrake for my website. Was ranking from page 11 to page 7 and now i am ranking easly easly, but don't outranking anymore. ps: i didn't use social monkee before google's update
How do you know? I never visited these sites? And Social Monkee is the only way I could have gotten these links! And these are the same sites on 2 of my Link Profiles (the 2 that I submitted to Social Monkee)
But only one of them had the socialmonkee structure. I'm a premium socialmonkee user since if started and all socialmonkee websites have the same layout, just some different colors and banners. For example, www.allnetseek.com is a website directory.
I think socialmonkee network was discounted or banned by google. For past, it was good tool if you know how to use it. Fast and good results in rating for some cases.

My thoughts are that it is not that you have links from these specific sites, but that you just hit a threshhold in the Google Algorithm e.g. for anchor text over optimization or something similar. I think that it is best to make your link profile more natural (good quality links, very varied anchor text, mix of nofollow and do follow links etc) rather than try to remove specific links. Cheers,
Nah, you got that wrong. It's still up and running and it's still being indexed very quickly in google. However, use it wisely or it won't have much effect on your rankings.
If you only used social monkee for buildling links then Im not surprised you got hit. If your doing backlinking you need diversity..not just backlinks from one source.
Socialmonkee provides links from hundreds of different sources and IP addresses, it's not all from one website.
High PR doesn't mean good quality. Good quality is fom pages with similar content to yours, pages that are active and well ranking in search engines as well. Sure, PR is good to determine the quality of a page, but all pages start at PR0, so don't focus too much on it. I'm not saying socialmonkee pages are that good, I'm just saying that PR is not what you should look at first.
Never used tools to build backlinks and that what we all learned after the penguin update. However If a low quality site mention your site, then you certainly cant control it and thats a negative side of the latest update.
