I recently sent a 50% deposit for a custom hack which I got scammed by a Turkish coder by the name of Tim Yarbrough also known as ExtremeTim from vb.org.

The payment was done through paypal but I am having some difficulties retrieving the funds through them. I would like to report this to the Turkish Police department or appropiate officials. Can anyone from Turkey point me in the right direction or perhaps help me report this matter? I would appreciate it. Thank you

Although I'm not from Turkey, I know from traveling experience that the police would like to have nothing to do with this case wince you were trading with illegal sources. Even in the case that the police took this on board, they would probably do nothing about it unless they had an FBI like department and could easily track your scammer. I would say try and get your funds back through paypal and negotiate toughly through them.

In the case that you don't get your money, I would look up something like "Turkish police department" on google and try to send an e-mail to them or something, because if you call them, they will NOT speak English :).

Hope you recover your funds mate :D

I'm from Turkey. Is Tim Yarbrough his nickname? Also as jack_40k says you should try to solve this problem with PayPal security team. Cause PayPal doesn't pay to Turkish banks even. So I think our police can't do anything in this situation. But If you payed lots of money (I mean lots of!) You should contact with some international organizations so they can cooperate with Turkish police to catch that moron. (Our police caught and arrested several people for watching and keeping materials about Child Pornography last year. They just tracked their Ips.) But if you paid not much to call international organizations I think PayPal will solve this issue if you provide the informations and sources to them.

And one more suggestion try to report him to Vb.org so they can ban him from there. I hope PayPal refund your money as soon as possible.

I am from Turkey too.. And like the other said, I am afraid police is not able to do much. Your best chance is with paypal. And ofcourse pass this situation over to vb and perhaps they might be able to give you a hand.
I dont know if the deal has taken place on vb but they still would be able to help alot more than police in Turkey.

Please let us know the process..

It seems that they dont have a english website. But what you can do is email your problem to this email address, and start with "Merhaba"
As it means hello, if they see a full english email they might think its junk. You might not be lucky that the guy front of the computer might dont understand english. This will catch their attention.

    Good luck.

I think he is not from Turkey. He has lots of hacks on vb.org but i've never heard he was from Turkey. If he had been a Turkish citizen, I'd have known him.

    It's a bad situation :( Good luck.

Tim Yarbrough? That's not a Turkish name at all.
