A friend of mine did last night. He was in a hurry to get to work, stopped to get gas, paid with credit card, started pumping and got back into car. He heard the pump stop, so he started up the car and drove off. With the front of the pump stand off as well as the pump hose itself. According to the Gas station, about 150 dollars worth of damage. Have you done this? Did you go back? Would you go back if you did?
I have never done it. If i did, i would race off like a maniac so i dont have to pay for damages. Rob
I have never left the baby carriage but I have left cups of coffe, laptop bags(laptop was not in it, thankfully!), my wallet one time. My wife said she saw someone before with the hose hanging off driving on the freeway!
Never done it, and I hope I never won't. In belgium at least there are camera's at each gas station. For sure they have my car # on tape ... and it isn't too difficult to get someone's address once you have the car ID (if something is damaged -- which is the case here). I think it's better to return then and say 'sorry' and offer the gas pump At least, I don't recommend anyone doing this! lol.
Here in the U.S. you could sue the gas station, the station attendant on duty, the gas company, the manufacturer of the gas-pump and the city for having a defective and unsafe gas-pump design that caused scratches on the paint of your car and for the severe emotional damage and pain caused by people laughing at you as you drove down the road with the hose dragging behind you.. And you would win because in the U.S., no matter how stupid you are, nothing is ever your fault...
I remember there was a joke about this picture, like what happens when a women fills up at the gas station. Or something.
No I've never done that but I have drove away from the bank with the capsule that you send in through the drive thru window. Once I got all the way home before I realized I had it. Of course, they had already called and left me a message asking me to return it
MaryMary- That is pretty funny. Were they nice about it? It's not like you would take it intentionally! I can't think of any use for one but I am sure somebody could!
If i did it i would sue the petrol station dont you think there should beep while u fill untill u put the hose back on. Would make sense!
There is no warning label saying driving away with the hose still attached may casue damage to your car. If it isn't idiot proof and labeled, we can sue away! I like the beep idea!
