I was informed today that one of my sites will be featured on cool site of the day. I am pretty stoked about it since from what I have read, the traffic will go though the roof and I will see other benefits from being featured as well. Has anyone ever had a site featured in there and if so, what did it do for your site?
Its a pr 7 website thats been around since 1994.. Has about 150,000 subscribers. Each day one website is chosen as featured.. One day of fame so to speak. Supposed to be an excellent boost for a website.
Traffic may go away through the roof Nothing is that easy my friend, there gotta be a catch in it. Whats the website url?
http://www.coolsiteoftheday.com/ That's the link and the site looks like crap. It's amazing how crappy sites do so well. It seems like the more sites break the webdesign rules the more popular they are.
I really don't see anything special there. It seem to have very high PR! Guess I am missing something.
lol.. This site.. OMG I never knew it still exists.. Way back in the 1999 when i had 56kbps and was in some primary grade.. I used to go to this site very often. It had the best multimedia sites on it I used to love this site. This site . Is truly a Legendary site Intro : Way back in the late 1990s, when no digg or stumble was there, it was hard to find a good site. This used to be our boon
Yeah it's really bad. I would put it 1 step below craigslist even. Craigslist atleast has some kind of consistency.
The funny thing is that this site simply NEVER changed. CSOTD is a relic on the internet! It's pretty awesome that it has the staying power that it does! Remember when all sites were that ugly? For that matter, remember when we used 28.8 modems and appreciated a site for not having a bunch of stupid crap to load? Yuck!
I actually submitted a different site at first and paid the $29 fee. I was told initially that they would not be able to feature the site I wanted featured because it is more of a niche gaming site and they want sites that appeal to a broader general audience so they looked through some of the others I sent them and chose one to feature. So anyway according to them I should see around 5,000 uniques the day its featured, which for me is a lot! And residual traffic that lasts for some time. Its also a permanent link on a pr7 site, (I think the archive page is a pr6), which isn't a bad deal at all. MTBiker is that Montana biker, Mountain biker or neither? Just curious
^ mountain biker Nice that it worked out. I remember submitting some sites years ago before the submission fee, but no luck. One of these days I'll try again.
30$ for 5k uniques isn't too bad. On other forums you usually pay 1 cent per click so you would be looking at 50$.
Well the site was featured on June 21st. Got around 2000 uniques on that day and has been 300-500 uniques a day for the last few days plus the added bonus of a permanent PR6 link to my site. A really good deal for sure, but not a sure thing. If your site is not chosen there are no refunds.
