Recently, a website, http://oxid.ro asked for free submission claiming to be non-commercial & educational. Asked why there are still ads, and reply was to pay for hosting costs. Anyone knows the background of this website?

Somehow doesn't smell like a true non-commercial. Kinda ironic for a dictionary site to have a grammar error in the first sentence of the homepage.

May I ask which directory allows free submissions for non-commercial sites?

    Thank you

my initial thoughts exactly, which is why i asked them and they claimed that it was to cover hosting costs.

but actually, honestly, how do you guys confirm such claims besides through reputation?

My personal review itself is enough for me to decide whether to include it or not. It is not about the reputation of the member but the quality, and the nature of the site that matters.

Yeah. I got this a couple of days back. I allow universities, colleges and charities free reviews if it is obvious that they are one of these. Either by providing charity ID number etc.

This guy said it's non-commercial but it just looks like it's been scraped :\
