    Hii Mates,

Like most of you, even I am suffering from the ongoing Paypal crisis. I had initiated a withdrawal request from Paypal on 27th Jan and its not processed yet. There was no reversal in my case though. Also, I did not receive any mail of intimation from them at the outset.

As I e-mailed Paypal the day before, they replied informing that everything is fine and the money should be at the bank account by 5th Feb.
But as nothing such happened and again I contacted the e-Bay Company as the 7th business day also passed.

Now they sends me the following mail:

    "
    Dear XXXX XXXX,

    Thank you for contacting PayPal.

I am responding to your recent inquiry regarding the ACH electronic
funds transfer that you requested from your PayPal account. Our records
indicate that this transfer has been successfully sent to your State
Bank of India account ending with XXXX on Jan. 28, 2010 in the amount of
$ XXXX USD. This ACH transaction has not been rejected back to us by
your bank; therefore we suggest that you contact your bank to see if
these funds have posted to your account. PayPal has no control over the
length of time it takes your bank to post their credits, and we do not
receive confirmation when your credit has been received by your bank.
Please note that the funds may have posted with our processing bank name
and not the name of PayPal.
If you would like us to initiate a trace for that transfer, we would
first need to receive a copy of your physical bank statement from
(month, day, year) through (month, day, year). Please fax that
information to 1-402-537-5750, Attn: Global Services Trace Request. As
soon as we have received this information, we will initiate a trace and
contact you with the results when they have been received.

I'll be glad to hear from you if you need clarification. Just give us a
call at 1-888-221-1161 and we will try our best to give you immediate
answers or you can also visit www.PayPal.com/101. Thank you for choosing
PayPal for your online payment needs. We appreciate your business

    Sincerely,
    XXXX

What horrifies me is that Paypal is having different answers for different persons. To some, they say its the banks, to others thay claim they are aware of the issue. Also many others were replied saying the transactions were risky. This is not done.

    MY QUESTION:

To be sure on the Indian part, can we claim information from RBI under RTI ??

How can they give prior notice when they dragged the issue with RBI for long and suddenly being woken up by RBI who decided to act tough! :(

Btw... nice image to cheer us up! :)

    ========
    Thank you for contacting PayPal.

About the reversed transaction that occurred in your account, I'm sorry
to inform you that we’ve had to stop allowing personal payments to be
    sent to and from India.

Any personal payments that have been recently sent to you from India
have been automatically reversed, and the money returned to the sender.

If you’re receiving money for a personal payment, such as gift, then we
have requested that the sender find another way to pay you until we’re
able to restore personal payments to and from India.

If this was a payment for a purchase of goods or services, and not a
personal payment, then you may contact the buyer and have him or her
resend the payment as follows: :
    1. Have the buyer log in to their PayPal account.
    2. Click “Send Money.”
    3. Enter their email address in the “To” field.
    4. Enter the amount of money they wish to send you, and choose the
    currency from the list.
    5. Select “Goods”, “Services”, or “eBay Items”, depending on the
    purchase.
    6. Click “Continue.”
We are trying to resolve this issue as quickly as possible and we’re
    sorry for any inconvenience.

Just checked my account today and got 3 more reversals. The worst part is that these payments are goods payment (not service or personal) with shipping details for which my drop-shipper has already delivered the goods. Wow. All three transactions were of 4th Feb. If they do it for 1st to 3rd as well, I should expect 13 more reversals like this.. Damn.. I think I have started hating Google.

Thats right. Moreover, the way they do the changes is unwarranted for. Atleast a prior intimation is a basic necessity in all business transaction. Deducting the amount and then telling us what they just did is kind of frustrating. I just hope there comes in another company like PayPal who facilitate localized bank transfers in India. They would really profit a lot and no doubts get a huge customer base.

    Hello,
I am an Indian customer of paypal providing services to people all over the world, making transactions through paypal.

I withdrew an amount from paypal on 30 Jan. 2010. paypal is showing this transaction complete but it is not credited to my bank account yet.

I withdrew two other amounts on 4 and 5 Feb. 2010, which were first kept pending and then cancelled by paypal, but it charged currency conversion charges once from dollars to INR and again from INR to dollars. This has caused me loss of $31 + $2 for each cancellation means $31+$4=$35. This was cancelled because paypal reversed some payments of my clients. When the money was with paypal only why is paypal charging currency conversion charges. Is this their source of earning?

Many of my payments have been reversed. I provide services by working hard for almost 20 hours daily. If paypal reverses the payment against services, how will I look after my family? They have a monopoly and are taking advantage of this. Many Indians provide services. It seems paypal does not want Indians to provide services to people all over the world.

Paypal-Community.com, this is a paypal community help forum. Many of its clients have posted there and are waiting for the response from paypal. Paypal is not responding at all. I just do not know what paypal is up to. It seems paypal is not bothered about its Indian clients.

    Thanks and Regrads
