Anyone else got the email alert after withdrawal (Indian Paypal Users) ??

It is purely commercial and not personal and it got reversed....It is not only personal payments...but all payments have been suspended and reversed.....This message from Anuj Nayar, Director, Global Communications at PayPal makes no sense..

Few of my clients resent my reversed payment on 4th feb and still there is no reversal..

so there is no more reversal from paypal ?

From my observation I find that whenever someone asks me to send the payment as a personal payment instead of using the service option, 8 out of 10 times it is an Indian. Using the most economical mode of payment is fine as long as it is not against the TOS but paypal TOS clearly says you should not use the personal payment option while paying for services and goods. Though, I'm sure a lot of people in other countries also might be doing it, paypal probably feels Indians have over abused this feature and wanted to put an end to it.

 

Yes I am aware of that even 1 of my payment sent as services was reversed.
I just posted here because that statement is from the Director and not from the customer service agents who most often send the template based reply.

 

I heard there are reversals even today.But only payments which were made on 4th or before

 

I don't see any reason why they didn't asked its customers before taking such a huge step.
If they wanted to take out the option for personal payment, they just could remove that option from their end.

It seems Indian customers were misusing that option to save the transaction fees.

I pray that they don't withdraw the whole service from India like they did for Pakistan.

yes that may be true but that cannot amount to cheating/dodging fees - see there is that option on PP with no PROPER guidelines of what they can use it for ... so it's natural ppl want to avoid fees. If I pay some writer $3 he gets only $2.4 which again is converted at a lower rate . so it's natural everybody looks towards avoiding fees.

 

After setting up offices/research centers and call centers in india i doubt they will move out

 

Yeah , i have got few reversals today but only on those payment which were made first time.. and there is no reversal on resending payments ..

 

no proper guidelines? The TOS clearly states you should not do it and warns they have the right to close your account for doing it

 

It's not necessary that they have to provide services where they have offices. The one that they have in Chennai is just a research and development center.

 

btw why did they ban it in Pakistan ? some such trivial issue which is easily solved by a policy change or some political problem?

 

We are discussing more abt service transactions i truly agree there is misuse with personal payment but why they reverted service????

Ya. I had also withdrawn an amount of $59 to my bank account. But yet it doesn't reached my bank account.

Should I go on to make new deal today? I am going to get some payment. What should I ask the buyer to do so that the payment doesn't get reversed?

1) Paypal finds out that a lot of Indians are abusing personal payment feature and decides to do something to curb it.
2) Probably to make a strong statement, they decide not only to remove the feature with immediate effect but also return all personal payments made on or after Feb 01
3) Some technical bug causes non personal payments as well to be reversed

This is my best guess of what has happened.
