Kolkata Does receive cheques very quick heh. :D infact any shipment. since i am from Kolkata as well, i am aware of this.
As an alternative, i received payments to moneybookers recently and also transferred to bank without an issue.
They use Wire Transfer method, so it's pretty fast.

Guys.. Here is something that will make you all Happy..

I received my $450 in my Bank Account.
I withdrew on my Debit Card (I have SBI Yuva VISA card added on my Paypal)
It is a DEBIT CARD, and I got amount in my Bank.. So, it's better than withdrwaing to Credit Card..

    Here is my story..
Requested a withdrawal of $450 USD to my SBI Yuva VISA Debit Card on 23rd Feb 2010. (7:30 AM IST)
Withdrawal request of $445 shown as pending.. Paypal took $5 as Fees
Withdrawal status shown as completed. (as checked on 4:30 PM IST)
    Waiting period from 23rd-26th Feb.
Received funds on 26th Feb 2010 (8:30 PM IST). Got the SMS for funds credited in Bank account.

    Currency Rate:
I withdrew $450. After fees, I was to receive $445
    Credited amount - Rs 20,074.66
    Exchange Rate: 1 USD = 45.11 INR

So, I have a withdrawal option now, that takes the same time to process, as in NEFT. It has better exchange rate than NEFT. (Virtually, I got back the fees of $5 for Debit Card withdrawal)

No.. The Yellow one with "Maestro" sign won't..

I would like to add some more..
I have the SBI Yuva Card added to my Paypal for a long time.. (I added it in Nov 2009)

And, I can confirm that anyone trying to add this card after 16th Dec 2009 will not be able to do so (VbV issues)
So, this may be a Good news only for those persons, who have their Yuva Cards added on their Paypal accouts..

    I would not say all

Because, you need to have the Debit card "added" to the paypal account.
If you want to add a new card now, most debit cards would be rejected because of VbV issues..

So, only if you have a VISA Debit card already added on your Paypal, you can try.. (btw, an SBI official confirms that VISA sends the money to your respective Branch.. and the officials at Branch would credit it manually in your account.. so, it depends on the staff of the Branch too)

I tried adding my Axis Bank Gold Debit Card with Visa logo. But Paypal denied saying :

"This credit card has been denied by the bank that issued your credit card. For details on why your card was denied, please contact your credit card issuer's customer service department. Or, you may want to try adding a different credit card."
