They might get popular but look at the transaction charges they impose and also from moneybookers you cannot withdraw money until you have certain amount and on that also they charge you fees. As with paypal upto 7000 INR its just 50 INR and if you withdraw above 7000 then no charges.

Moneybookers certainly has my vote! I think they are equally good as paypal, the only thing which they do not share with pp is the popularity, I would definitely consider it a second option!

To quote the link "Online transfer of funds from bank accounts may soon become faster, but this could lead to higher charges for customers, as banks may have to pay the Reserve Bank a fee for this service from April 1..."

As usual RBI is delaying the process without even understanding its effect on us.. Not sure how India is Going become super power..
Now I understand how maoist can convinence people to join them.. when people are left with no option they wont think about good or Bad..
If people in the cities and town are left with no option think about people in rural areas.... am really getting frustated.

Chill... buddy! Paypal would surely be working hard to comply and get back into business with Indian customers.
And...GOD forbid, even if they can't make it, it would not be an end to our world as we will surely find an alternative to it.
The least we can do in the meantime... is maintain a peaceful and stable state of mind! :)

Ya, you are right. I think its not easy for PP to change its policies just for one country. Although they can temporarily stop the payment, which they are doing right now, but if taxes applied on the withdrawal, they will need to think about how much taxes should be applied to Indian users and how much their competitors are charging for payment etc.... So, things will not be as 'good' as they were before.
A sad end of good story, but...

It is still a speculation as to whether RBI would levy any charges on NEFT transactions. The free period ends on 31st March and RBI could even extend the time period... its main focus as of now is to make NEFT real time by increasing the operating hours!

All we expect from Paypal is to give us a proper, transparent and frequent updates on the status.. looks like they have a very mediocre communications team.. We are not looking for apologies because the damage is already done.. if any body from PP is seeing this.. Please dont keep us in the Dark.. its not fair.

    It makes bit worried.

We initiated check withdrawal last Monday and waiting for the check. Today, when i spoke to PayPal customer care team, they said that too wouldn't work. The only option is at the moment is "Withdrawal using CC". That too, we can't give any assurance.

    Very pathetic the way responded/answered.

Really irresponsible answer... If check option will not work, then why did the Asia-Pacific Lead made a public post in the Official paypal blog?

Paypal should train their staff to handle queries in a professional way. They should be taught that its us 'the customers' who make their business function...

You might receive a survey about the service offered by the agent. Mention that you wouldnt expect such an irresponsible and pathetic answer from a support agent.
