Anyone else find it odd that Google chose "Jagger"?

My question is, are they trying to do the right thing but ending up doing the wrong thing?

If they want to be a "jagger" maybe they should actually target the spam or "cancer" of the results. I have seen tons of quality be tossed out the window during this "update"

    What up with that?

I think it's still too early to tell, maybe their cleaning out data and will be adding back rankings as they crawl the sites again. Who knows.

You would have to ask about the meaning at WMW...It was Brett that chose it, not Google

Yeah its possible. Just didnt see why they chose that name if it isnt effective. Or maybe the meaning of the name is irrelevant. Who knows?

yeah, even matt cutts said that it was bretts choice to name updates, he even hinted that the labelling of changes as an update was a bit arbitrary.

    Maybe its for "Lager"

    Mick Jagger = Lager

So if someone wants a pint of lager in the UK, they can order a pint of 'Mick Jagger'

Yes, Matt has been called the Mick Jagger of search, and the Rolling Stones are playing in Vegas at the same time as WMW's PubCon happens in Vegas next month.

I would be the co-occuring stones concert and WMW is the reason behind the update name. Perhaps I'll check the show out when I'm there.

I think Brett meant Jager... short for Jägermeister. Makes sense with Bourbon used as a name.

    Two R's? AhHa!
The whole cause of this craziness is that Brett and Matt have been out drinking with danzarella! :D

I saw it with 2 G's.... subliminal for the schizo way that Google has been acting? :p

As someone mentioned it is a reference to Mick Jagger.. I actually posted the text of the naming and why it was named that way yesterday.. but the post either got deleted or consolidated.. and I am too lazy to look for it.

Although Jager would be good too..
