All this is deadly deadly wrong, by just one reason. I simply upgraded my vista sp2 ultimate to win 7 ultimate with saving all my settings, just like usual windows install and my sysytem instead of slow bitch become ultra fast machine like it should be with top hardware I use. That's enough for me to use win 7. EVERYTHING FASTER than it was with Vista and even faster than old XP (but you need good machine)

More than that, junk Vista have used 60+ GB of my HDD for who knows what purpose!!! It was free after win 7 install.

After year of work it constantly crashes more than win 95 in good old days.

It very slow with browsing web, very slow with hdd work and crashes a lot.

They are not on same kernel

Kernel 6 and 6.1 are VERY different

Win XP was much better with games and multimedia than win 2000 so it a lot different. Windows 2000 and NT are almost same.

And I don't use all this Linux cause I need job/joy done without hastle here and now.

I still use XP and am contemplating switching directly to 7, giving Vista a skip as I find it very heavy on resources. I would honestly be surprised if people would prefer Vista, especially after having tried 7! :)

I recently upgraded from Vista to 7.
Oops, I actually meant to say, "downgraded" :p
Imo 7 crashes far more than Vista and is slower, and OpenGL games are useless on 7

However I do like the Win7 feature which changes your screen to 4:3 if you attempt to use 1024x768 on a 1440x900 widescreen, which makes things less distorted and is good for playing games with a poor GPU

Ah well, at least it was a free downgrade/upgrade as I had a win7 upgrade voucher

Well, I run Vista, my wife runs Windows 7 (I quit Macs last year and won't go back). I like Windows 7 much bettter (faster with the same RAM, etc I have)...but I will never, ever, ever violate the Golden Microsoft Rule I learned in the mid 1990's...never upgrade a Microsoft OS on your existing computer unless you are a power user who just likes "pain"!!

Next computer I buy will be a Windows 7 OS (or newer if there's a new one by then), but I don't plan to upgrade my Vista box.

I'm really tired with Vista and 7. Just 2 months, my new PC always crashed using Windows 7. All in all XP still the best!

I don't know why my PC always crashed when i'm online. I've updated my windows, get the latest version of Firefox and it's always crash. None programs i used incompatible with 7.... any suggestion?

I know an individual running Vista and W7 laptops, they prefer the vista. Personally, I rather use Win Xp or Ubuntu.

Windows 7 is said to be having the "coolness of Vista" and "stability of XP." You know why a lot of people prefer XP or Win 7 over vista? Simply because when Vista first came out, it was like Win ME - full of bugs. However, with all the service packs released for Vista, I think everything will work out just fine.
