Anyone done any analysis on ad placement on forums?

    Hi,

I've been reviewing my stats and can see that there are two ways of increasing earnings, those being Impressions and CTR, in other words, get more traffic coming to the site, and improve the amount of people clicking those ads. To do that, we have to look at ad position, colour, etc.

On my forum at the moment, my adsense is in a Leaderboard ad at the top of the page, just under the title. I get around 0.25% CTR in this position from around 1,400 - 1,600 impressions. If i can moderately improve my CTR and also increase the traffic I could double my earnings from this forum.

Would I be better off putting my ads after the last post in each thread? In the postion they are in now, the ads won't be read by anyone reading my forum, as the eye is always drawn to the bottom of the thread as the reader browses.

Has anyone done this comparison? What were your results?

I found it best to blend them in and put them close to the forum message text.

after the last post why not, but also put one in the header and one between first and second post, or on the left menu column

OK, i've left the header one in there, and I now display in-thread as well. Let's see if it works.
