I just had a read on their forum, it appears they are doing some work on 1 or 2 particular servers, they have said 3 hours and put no time limit on it. Ive been unlucky today, at another host elsewhere earlier today mysql server went down or something like that.
Hi guys, it appears all back to normal now, im not sure how long it was down, my first experience with such downtime, i cant complain though, im pleased none of yourselves were affected.
They have maintainance every now and then and those cause momentary downtimes. If you have it probably most of the other HG users can't confirm it bc all servers are not maintained at the same time. But overall, i'm very satisfied with their uptime ratio and performance, ofc. considering the the price they charge for it.
I had bad experience. I got suspended after 3 days of purchase. But the reason is reasonable. My site takes a lot of CPU usage. LOL. Anyway, I'm pretty sure they're good.
Im one of the customers affected on this server http://forums.hostgator.com/showthread.php?t=30487 fortunately its back now, just one thing i want to do is restore the database for each site to 1st april as they could only restore the sites affected to 30th march. Is restoring through cpanel as simple as it looks? Yeah i agree, cant complain at the price.
I think the 30th March is about their routine which they take back-ups every monday or sth, if i'm not wrong. If weekly routine is fine for you you may not need to take back-ups, i only do that when there is something really important.
Im sorry to hear that Robert, as you say you can understand if your site is heavy on resources. Sorry to hear about that lightstarm I backup all my databases there plus do a Home Directory Backup there every single night, just to be ultra careful and prepared. Once i can find out the proper way to restore my db's for 1st april il do that, i need to as i had customers use my site where their custom is not currently recorded on 2 of my sites until i restore with 1st april database.
