I'm having no luck getting CB sales - 2 weeks without one, so I've started a new site at http://www.cbreviews.info. Its not quite finished yet - I need more content and I'll be working on that over the weekend but its starting to get some traffic already - still no conversions tho. I'm trying to aim for impartial reviews - its tough when you essentially want to sell something to someone - I'd appreciate any guidance - as you can tell its Joomla - I love it ;) so I dont want to change away from that. I'm opening myself up here, so please be gentle.! All comments gratefully received (sales would be even better tho :)))

    1. You have to go after the low hanging fruit.

Target the products brand name keywords.

Ideally you want to be in the Top 5 on Google (Organic Search) for your products brandname keyword so you can get some of those impulse buyers and people interested in buying that specific product. You can also target [brand name] review or Does [brand name] work? etc.

Target similar products brand name keywords

You might want to compare two similar programs and recommend one over the other.

    2. I tried this once and got a few sales, but I didn't have enough traffic to fully test it out.

Put an 800 X 150 landing page section at the top of each page (above the fold) and below it the navigation (Home | About | Reviews | Articles) etc. and just promote the strongest selling product on each page.

Then target the brand name of the product, other brandname products and longtail related keywords (Ex: "registry cleaner software", "registry fix software" etc.)

Edit: You also have to make sure those Joomla links are SEO friendly. (no ? etc.) Ideally you want a page structure like domain.com/product-name/

OK.. just having looked at your page... it appears you aren't being very targeted...

I would advise, for relevancy... you must be more targeted in your marketing... I understand the store-type setting...but for marketing.. you need tight targets to stick to..

Just my .02 <---- worth every penny

I just covered this with a bunch of my affiliates, here are some point form tips for you:

    1. The 'store' type setting offers way too much distraction and defection to the customers journey << This will be hard for you to convert.

    2. CB Is no different than any network - offers+affiliates - target offers that you know convert well and create focused campaigns for them. Perhaps link to them from your site - but aim your general promotions (squid/hub/ezine/ppc/2.0/etc.) at the laser targeted landing page for ONE product.

    3. Don't do comparisons - Though it's a good idea and yes you may convert - it will also have the potential to confuse your prospect by giving them choice. "Aha! Here is another one of these widgets" < And now they may want to research both more - and poof they are gone... Here is a landing page example section for one of my programs (sorry for the plug guys), this shows a continuity in design to the offer, a very focused short/sweet pitch setup, and quick forced clickthrough - http://www.nichechoppers.com/niche-product-forextracer.html#landingpages

    4. It's admirable that you are creating this review site - however again - this is known as mishmash site - you're going to get random traffic and they will leave on random clicks. Marketing products one at a time with sniper style campaigns even doing bum marketing with no/low spend is going to yield you MUCH better results.

    5. GET RID OF YOUR ADSENSE << You're losing prospects for pennies. If you don't get much traffic - preserve your clicks to your high paying CB products only.

    6. Create some focus on your front page i.e. 'Current recommended' and pick three similar hot topics. If I came to the front page of your site - i wouldn't have a clue what its purpose is - 'umm ok - this guy reviews stuff?' - though a great way market yourself and products - you need some focus and guidance above the fold that is not so refix/mishmashup.

    7. Perhaps harsh - however I feel you would be better off creating 3 of these but only focus on three niches not stores. Though that calls for three campaigns....

    8. When you do you a promotion - not sure what you are doing right now for promoting your prime choices - but you are obviously going to be sending your traffic to specific pages i.e. you do an ezine article and squidoo about forex, and send the links to your forex pages. Once on the chosen product - if you don't want to create laser targeted landers/promos that publishers provide - you should really eliminate ALL distractions, get rid of the comments (opens up doors for bad reviews, spammage, other aff's stuff - though you moderate it probably it's still 'distraction') - get rid of banners, get rid of top level buttons, literally force them to clickthrough your link - NOWHERE else.

    10. Personally - I would get rid of all the pricing info of any product - just tease them that it's a great deal - which you can do many indirect ways without revealing the price. If you PPC - sometimes you put the price in your ads to deter freebie lurkers and maximize clicks - but these pages are pre-sell pages, you want to tease them - and send them away before they can even figure out what site they are on. Don't forget the only real purpose of these landers is to track your ID and tease a 'little', not meant to entertain, educate, offer choices, alternatives, mall walkthroughs... get them the heck OFF your site at your earliest without intimidating them with pricing or too much of !! now!! cheapy cheapy!! Special WOW!!....

Hope these 10 help you out - CB can be a very lucrative avenue however just like any network, it's the offers that make you coin not the networks.... Cheers mate.

I'll give you an example of how a comparison could work.

Let's say you are selling Regcure. You're ranked #3 for "Regcure" in Google and getting a few sales a day but you want more targeted quality traffic. Make a page on ErrorNuker (assuming ErrorNuker doesn't have it's own affiliate program or conversions are too low) and then talk about how it doesn't work and that "Regcure" is much better.

That's the kind of comparison I'm talking about. You don't have to introduce another product on your Regcure review page.

Wow - thanks you guys! I've been away for the weekend and was humbled (maybe too cheesy :)) by the amount of time you guys have taken to look things over and help.
NC - I agree with you on almost every point and have tried to address some of the issues
I've removed all pricing - good point
As far as promotions go I'm aiming @ PPC, Squidoo , articles and social bookmarking so far and linking to a relevant sub-domain on my site ie tattoos go to choppertat.cbreviews.info which jumps to the landing page
I've removed adsense (at least for the time being) - I admit it was hard - at least I seem to earn a few cents this way, but I take your point about lost sales/bigger picture etc
I need to get my head down and do more reviews - work damn you work :)
I must admit, I do disagree with you point about reviews - I want the site to become known (hopefully) as fairly 'independent' - of course my devious plan here is to review CB products (which i can earn on) favourably compared to non-cb products and direct (or, vice veras if I can make more off the competing product ;)) the user to the one I can capitalise on

Once again - thanks guys - back to the trenches!

try another network other then CB - Those products are very very saturated and a lot of the landing pages stink.
