There are so many unique and cool domains out there, anyone just buy for fun, more as a hobby?

Why would you buy domains just for "fun"? I'm sure there are a lot of other things you can do for "fun" then just buying domains. Either you buy because you're a domainer looking to flip them for a profit down the track, or you buy to develop a site.

I will only buy for fun when have domain promo which below $2.00/year .
If not i would not buy it for fun and i rather spend the money to buy keywords domain name and resell.
Because renewal price is expensive so i would not buy domain for fun .

    $10/year per domain?

That seems like a pretty expensive hobby...

    I guess I am cheap...I don't buy domains for fun and I spend $4.50 on a movie.

I sometimes buy domains even when I have no intention of using them. Don't ask me why.

I buy and sell domains for a living. Currently my portfolio is well over 10,000 domains. If you get involved simply as a hobby, then you will lose money. There is a lot of research and work involved in order to succeed. So unless you're prepared to do research and work, you should expect to lose your money. If that doesn't bother you, then go ahead! But, in that case, buy from me!

No, I don't think it would be a good idea. You will need to renew every year and when you have lot of domains as hobby then it would be real pain to invest :p

Sometimes good domain name could be great investment, you can buy it for cheaper price and re-sell for much higher. Some people earn money this way.
