Just noticed this and think it's a fantastic idea. Am I correct in saying that 50% of adsense revenue is given to member who STARTS thread that revenue is gained from? Is there anyway to control the ads that appear? What I mean is most of the ads I am seeing today on any thread are all going along the same lines - ads for pay per click management, etc. If (in the future) I write a quality decent post about something that has known high adsense returns (eg. mortgages - an article about mortgage marketing through seo maybe), then perhaps go and get other sites to link to this (informative) thread maybe with anchor text on link "mortgage marketing through seo"........ will this then mean that the ads that appear will have better chance of being these mortgage related high paying adsense types. Has anyone tried this? Given the search engine power and page rank of DP, I would imagine that if done properly these pages would have a good chance of getting plenty of search traffic.
Writing articles about mortgages on a webmaster forum? :/ Sounds more like spam to me. Unless you post 24/7, you wont earn much at all with the revenue share, don't get your hopes up. AFAIK, you as thread starter get 50% of the ad displays on TOP of the page, and the posters get 50% of the ad displays within the page.. But dont mark my words on it.. Im too lazy to go check the countless other threads about this.
Cheers Daz. Not looking to make a fortune from it. If I ever did try it in the future would be as more of an experiment than anything else. About the controlling content of the ads themselves? Do you have any knowledge or experience of this.
I don't think you make much at all from it TBH with you mate. I have a daddy of a thread in the P&R forum that is the all time 4th most popular thread ever (soon to be 3rd if I give it a nudge ) with nearly 1,000 replies and it has made pretty much fook all but I think it's a great gesture by the admins here on DP. I think it made about 40 cents so far but beggars can't be choosers. At the end of the day it's the thought that counts. People like GTech think I do it on purpose to get thousands off of the rev sharing, that's nonsense, I'm just the daddy when it comes to breaking news to the P&R heads.
You don't get 50% of the revenue, you have a 50% chance that your publisher id will be used to request the ads. You then have to get the clicks. however you are viewing this all wrong. Revenue sharing is a nice little bonus, and shouldn't be the reason you post here. Sure it's busy but wouldn't you do better working on your sites?
That is true. But GT thinks that I am driving around in a Roller due to adsense revenue some of the fantastic threads I start in the P&R forum LMFAO! I don't even think about the rev from some of my ace threads, that is the last thing on my mind as it brings nothing in TBH. I do it to try and wake the sheeple up but he don't not see it that way.
