Thanks for opening the post, I appreciate that you even came this far. I just redsigned my home page for www.VerbalBattle.com and aimed to make "debate" my main keyword. Was wondering if anyone could give me some insight as to whether I need to do more work or if I should do ok for thats earch term.

    Thanks, rep added for responses.

1st you need to target keywords in your title as that is your best place to get them in positions in the engines! You have this: The Web's Greatest Debate Community! and it should be like: Debate Communiy l Verbal Debates l VebalBattle.com

2nd You need to insert a meta tags and meta decription in your site becasuse currently you have none!

You can go HERE to check these things!!

Yes, meta tags are helpful in onpage SEO, well more than that!
Anyways, my point is that when you go to your article page, the title is "A Store Like No Other" which isnt descriptive, include your keyword in it too, something like "Verbal Battle store" is better as it is giving a little boost to your keyword.

The heading of the store section is the same as the article section , separate both and include your keywords in it. :D

And then concentrate on offpage SEO :D

Take of the "coming soon" announcements.

If Google comes, it will be too late and you will have to live with the cache of your site with coming soon on it until it decides to revisit.

This may upset all the people out there who tend to sell the 30-40 page review thingies - you can get them done for free if you know where to look. ;-)

Get more content on your pages.

If you can afford it or you have some friends - get them posting in your forums.

No disrespect meant but you will never get rated on the words you want if you spell them incorrectly!

I know that having a forum is a great way to get great content, but, if you want great SEO you may need to go behind the scenes and tidy up some of the posts - only the words that matter.

Go find your words using either dictionary.com or one of the keyword sites. Get posting using a few of the words in everything you do.

    hi,

Also, bear in mind that when writing your TITLE Tag you should put your most important phrase for ranking FIRST. The words at the start of the title tag have more weighting than those later in the tag. The TITLE is the most important meta tag for SEO.

Good luck, let me know if this is helpful.

I do a full site SEO Report but mine is £500.

Then again I have been doing this for years and have an unquestionable track record! I think you are selling yourself too cheap, you cant be good for that money!

    take care,

I think you will find that everyone who is offering a '40-50 page review' is using a program (freely available on the web) that does basic SEO and SEO analysis. It prints off a '40-50 page review' in html that you can go through and analyse.

Problem is - it is a program not a human.

I must admit, I do like to use them to get a feel for the general SEO quality of a site.

IMHO - It normally takes anywhere between 8 - 12 hours or so to really SEO review a site.

    Not really.

It honestly depends on what word you are using. Some words you don't have a hope in hell unless you are a .edu or .gov. At the very least you need a .com. Unless you are a specific country keyword like say Brazil and a .com.br or Aussie site with .com.au.

You can get rank on a single keyword by using related words. Google is well clever. What are people looking for? What are they already finding (ie what competitors do you have in adwords etc) you need to find the related words that most people would use to but no one is using to rate ;-)

OMG I am giving away all my wisdom.

I must write a book. Oh, I already have. Well back to greatness.
