I have been researching a little bit about Squidoo. I noticed you can make some extra cash by making multiple lenses about your niche. - Has anyone had some good success by doing this as far as earnings go? - Is this a good way to make some extra money and is it worth it? - How much have you made with Squidoo?
I think its a load of crap, I saw lots of people saying they use lens because they ranked well in google. I have yet to come across a squidoo lens in google and the only squidoo lenses I have seen are by webmasters and affiliates. I made one a ways back and its made me 0.20 from a adsense ad in about 4 months and has lead to no link traffic. You can try it if you like and I am sure someone will say they are doing good with it but I have found it to be useless.
I have made some money with my Squidoo...it's not alot, but money is money. 1/8/2008 Cash $1.06 12/12/2007 Cash $1.03 10/10/2007 Cash $3.32 9/7/2007 Cash $4.12 8/6/2007 Cash $5.99 Total $15.52
I make a few hundred dollars a month from Squidoo through linked traffic. It was more this summer, before the big Google-slap. My lenses rank well in Google, but I'm not going to show you any, so you'll have to take my word for it
I like Squidoo, I've made a few bucks off it while advertising my sites and gaining referrals for a few sites/products.
Squidoo is cool, not only it gives me great traffic to my main site and produces some sales, it also generates extra revenue with very little effort to get traffic to the lenses. I have six lenses curently and they are earning a bit. #1 Total $17.75, #2 Total $1.26, #3 Total $6.23, #4 Total $0.05, #5 Total $1.06, #6 Total $0.00 Just tarted that one yesterday.
So it sounds like Squidoo isn't really a big money maker as an "affiliate" or stand alone income site (like Adsense) but more of a tool to make more money on your own site by increasing traffic.
Interesting, It is all about traffic, always has been and always will be, so those who did well, they had higher traffic than those who did not do well. Nothing new here, the same is true with adsense for the most part, although there are exceptions depending on subject matter of your sites. Good luck to all, Mike
Exactly, that's the way I'm using it. Especially great for long tail low to medium competition keys, ranks amazingly within days.
I've used Squidoo for a few months... basically I found it quite hard to rank in Google, but I have managed to get some people visiting my site (mainly signature links I think). I had earned a few dollars from the adverts on squidoo, and a few more from referring a lot of people (which I was disappointed about). However, I have earned about £50 using CJ affiliate links on the lens, so I have to say its worth it
I only use Squidoo Lens to just get some side traffic to my sites, I don't really think that they rank that well, but it does help with getting links and some small cash (a dollar a month for me , which I end up donating)
wow, see I knew I was going to be wrong... For those of you making the money did you basically write up the content and insert backlinks/affiliate links or did you attempt to use their build in money makers?
The only kind of built in money makers that I know of are the adsense adverts and Amazon/Ebay product links. Personally I made money by using affiliate links, hardly earned anything from Squidoo itself...
So you can simply add your Adsense code or CJ links to your lens and make money off of it? I thought you had to set up an advertiser account, give tax info and all that stuff. That almost makes it worth it to just throw up a simple page with some good niche info, point them back to your page and call it good. Even if they don't visit your site, you can still make money off the possible clicks from your ads. Does Squidoo take a percentage of your sales through Adsense or, like Digital Point, only display your ads like %50 of the time?
If I'm right there just pages off the Squidoo and with Squidoo PageRank I would of thought that it would be a google gold mine and the search engine spammers would be making 100 pages a day and making a killing off affiliate links and adsense? Maybe their are and no one has said anything about it, just seem stange Squidoo isn't even banned from Google if their users can create their own pages, people would use it for all kinds of thing both legal and illegal!
squidoo still strong http://www.alexa.com/data/details/traffic_details/squidoo.com stumble going down http://www.alexa.com/data/details/traffic_details/stumbleupon.com
Heh I don't know what StumbleUpon has anything to do with this, since users can't really create pages on StumbleUpon like they do on Squidoo...
