I have found many interesting titles in that site. I'm interested in the php and Dreamweaver tutorials, but $250 for a yearly membership isn't so cheap... is anyone a member of that site? Would you recommend joining it?
No I'm not a member of that site but a long time user of Dreamweaver and a couple of years php. My problem with paying to subscribe to sites is that really all the information is out there. This is a site I started off with which also has paid subscription but has a lot of free tutorials as well. http://www.dmxzone.com/
Yeah, well, I really aren't interested in looking for the info or reading a book or tutorials, I have ADD and can't concentrate on reading after a few minutes, so I need some video tutorial. That site looks like if it has the perfect information I am looking for, but I don't want to spend my money only to find out that it was a waste, if anyone is a member I'd apreciate their comments
I believe lynda.com do sell CD-ROMs of their video training. A buddy of mine lent his copy of Photoshop and may I say that video training beats book/ebooks hands down.. Why not consider their CDROMs?
Because if you pay for a membership you can access all the video tutorials they have on their site... I took a look and wow, you can learn everything over there!
IMO, the CDROM tutorials are easy to follow and understand. For $250, you get the whole bunch of video tutorials, that's a bargain. If you are able to download an offline copy of the videos then I'll say that $250 is a steal..
Why don't you try the $25 monthly membership for a month and then you will be able to decide for yourself whether it is worth the $yearly subscription fee?
Fryman did you sign up? I've just remembered that I've got some (very basic) php video tutorials wich I downloaded ages ago from 3dbuzz. They were free at the time and now I can't find the link on their site but if you're or anyone is intersted I'll upload to a server. the lessons I have: Introduction Installing MYSQL Intro to DATABASES Intro to TABLES For Loops and Arrays <----recommend If Statements <----recommend Writing a Guestbook <----not bad Adding PHP to HTML < ----recommend Intro to Variables < ----recommend User account Intergrating PHP and MYSQL POST GET FORMS Please bear in mind these tutorial are (very basic) command line which with MYSQL I'm not sure everyone will want to get into but the php command lines stuff is useful. Let me know if anyone wants any of these.
Thanks, a friend lent me his PHP CD tutorial of lynda.com, I'll be checking it out tomorrow so I can see what kind of information they have
he he... too busy today and didn't have a chance to start using it, but tomorrow I am sure going to and I'll post some comments over here
elkiwi, What are the file sizes like? Would love to get some on PHP. fryman, I'm subscribing to this thread. Awaiting your comments...
They are like 5 - 60 megs so I'm won't post links here (haven't got too much bandwidth) Just pm me and I'll send the links if you like.
