I recently paid for LEP and set up my directory. Overall it’s a very good script and there was a lot of thought and effort put into making it as modular as possible – being able to incorporate ads, custom fields, etc. With that said, there are still a number of bugs in it. And although I’ve tried contacting the author, I’ve received a single response to my issues. Beyond that, there’s been no support. Yes, great script ... if it was free. So I was hoping someone else has used this script and has figured out how to deal with these issues (copied from an email sent to the author of which I’ve yet to get a response): 1) Whenever I click on a category or sub-category, I see "There is no resource here." at the very top. Why is that? 2) Whenever someone uses an apostrophe ('), it saves it as a backslash apostrophe (\'). This happens in comments, emails, etc. 3) When I enter the admin panel, I'm still seeing this error: "Warning: MagpieRSS: Failed to parse RSS file. (Mismatched tag at line 178, column 8) in /hsphere/local/home/xxx/xxx.net/lib/magpierss/rss_fetch.inc on line 238 Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /hsphere/local/home/xxx/xxx.net/admin/index.php on line 74 Warning: MagpieRSS: Failed to parse RSS file. (Mismatched tag at line 178, column 8) in /hsphere/local/home/xxx/xxx.net/lib/magpierss/rss_fetch.inc on line 238 Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /hsphere/local/home/xxx/xxx.net/admin/index.php on line 95" 4) A lot of people have asked if they can provide their own logo in place of the thumbshots. I tried adding a logo custom field and uploading a logo but it doesn't show up. I tried refreshing and also rebuilding cache, etc. Also, as a custom field, the field box is rather large and the "Browse" button is so big, that it is overlapped by the sidebars. 5) I tried enabling page cache and when I went to rebuild the cache, it stalled and just froze while it was rebuilding. 6) The date convention is a bit off. For example "Date Added: August 2rd, 2010" and "Date Added: August 1nd, 2010." Whereas it should be the 2nd and 1st or better yet, no ordinals at all and just have it August 2, 2010. In fairness, II should’ve been more leary about the lack of documentation and support. If you click on the “Documentation†link on the site, you get an error. All of the authors sites for support have been “suspended†... lol.
With the Rss part in admin acp, You may be using an old version of the script, They moved the forum after 2.4 (that is where the feeds came from). The slashes is to do with magic_quotes, They need to be set to Off in the php.ini file The support there is slow at times but i think it is one guy. All the best.
