I was just looking at some keywords on Google and found some big changes in the Search Results. Does anybody else see it? I don't think it's the normal glitch where a site yoyos (go up and down ) by 2-5 places but i think we're in for some big algorithmic changes, the changes Matt Cutts said we're going to have beginning of 2009 - personalised search, globalisation etc might be kicking in who knows. Put on your seatbelt guys!
hmm google seems to be launching several new featureds like preferred site to the mix. That might screw SEO up if people dont prefer your site
Just noticed that my sites that got "-50 penalized" late October are ranking even worst, even with daily updates with fresh unique and relevant content - while spam blogs + mfa's with no content at all are ranking higher.
Ive read somewhere (webpronews)that YOU will basically be the one whom dictates what you want in your results to where the results are as always but if you find something better on page 6 then you can just click and it will automatically be in top results (for you) there next time you do a search. thx malcolm
Scubita: I've seen a couple of your posts where you've said many of your sites are not ranking well since October last year. I'm very inclined to think they may have been hit by an over-optimisation penalty, even if you haven't over optimised your sites, they could have triggered that kind of filter (i've spent hours researching on OOP btw and that's my understanding). So if you want to, PM me one of your sites which has been affected and i'll take a closer look to see if i can help.
I've seen some specific keywords being hit (can't even find in the index) for my hp, whilst others have remained exactly where they are. I wonder if these algo changes are an experiment or they are here to stay??
I kind of believe this too - I have a site that is optimized to the best of its ability (in the same way my other sites are), but only that particular site is not appearing whatsoever in Google or Yahoo - instead, all of the lesser known SE's like Dogpile are bringing hits. It's the strangest thing I've ever seen.
I haven't noticed any big changes in our rankings. We did get extra Google traffic yesterday, but that could've just been the result of ongoing promotion.
Sorry to hear about your site. Pretty interesting about the spam blogs and mfa's. Why do those blackhat sites outrank your whitehat site? Bompa
I haven't personally noticed any major change in the SERPs. Regardless of your rankings, you should continue to work at building a quality site. That is the best solution for long term rankings.
