Yes many sites will make money, but all those money making sites will be professionally supported for all skill sets technical, business, marketing, quality, functionality, management, promoting etc etc There is no place in the directory market place for QBC's
I know I'm not. (yet) But that wouldn't stop me from what I currently do anyways. It would just relieve a lot of the pressure and stress.
Well we all need carrers, so for me owning websites that make money are purly a bonus which most will gets put back into the sites.
I make some. About 600$/month from my dirs. I think the income is fair, cos it's the amount of work I do.
4. Had more. One dir of mine has currently 90 categories pages ranked as PR 2 - 3. But I get less submissions in that one then in the one I mostly advertise, Anto Web Index. After my new template is completed for Anto Web Index, I'm sure it will get more submissions after that
A few people do, although I am quite certain that most owners of big directories have other sites than just directories. You see the nice thing about directories is that they provide a constant flow of cash (unlike programs that pay every month or quarter) that is readily available and can be used for site purchases or promotion.
Although I do not own any directories myself I know a friend of mine that does and he makes about $250 a month with his two directories. He puts in about 6 hours a week on processing and developing. That's a fair amount but he is hoping the constant work and quality controls he is always working on will give him a directory on the scale of botw.
I don't think that one can make a living from a directory unless you are among the very few that are on the top of the industry. I am not expecting to make a living of my directory, but just enough to pay the bills and get enough to advertise to make it grow.
Easy to make money with a directory but its hard to make profits... So right now i can't say i'm making a living out of them , but with time i'm sure it will
for me directory like feeder PR for other my site ... but i get several hundred $$$ from it ... not bad
"Making a living" is subjective. It all depends on cost of living, etc... While I dont make a living with a directory, I do have one that makes decent profit.(low x,xxx/month) I think a directory can be what you put into it. So many people pretend they are Kevin Costner in the Field of Dreams and think that "If they build it, People will come". A directory takes a great deal of time and effort, as well as something that makes it unique. If they dont stand out, then they just get lost in the mix of thousands that pop up every day.
